Today Wesley was in a bit of a trance as he sat for his library shift. Books on the desk needed to be shelved, and he would get around to it, but for right now he just needed to sit and absorb.

She was alive. She was alive.

Yeah, he needed to process this.

"Hey guys, and ladies," Sam said, once everyone had arrived to the computer lab. The computers were off again today, and Sam was at the front of the room with a cardboard box next to him on the desk. "I know that so far we've been talking about computers as the things in front of us, but these days, computers are a lot more than just the machines we have here. Laptops and tablets and even phones can do a lot of the things computers can do, and there have been handheld computer games for quite a while."

Reaching into the box, Sam pulled out a keychain-sized toy. "This is a virtual pet. Just like a real pet, you have to feed it, clean up after it, and play with it to keep it happy. If you don't keep it happy, well, you lose, and you have to start over again with a new pet. I'm going to pass the box around, and I want you all to take one. Play around with it to see how it works, and try to go through as few pets as possible before we meet again next week."

Someone was scrambling on the crafts portion of the class, it would seem. Or thought that puppets were awesome for high school age students. Who knew? There were some helpful worksheets on how to make paper bag puppets and all the supplies of glue, construction paper and paper bags that one might desire waiting for the class when they arrived. Fun times!

But that wasn't the important part if you asked Reed. The lecture waste important part, damn it.

"A wormhole is, contrary to what you might have seen or read in science fiction, purely speculative," Reed said, bringing up an image of a wormhole for them to see what he meant. "We have yet to actually observe one happening to prove or disprove our theories. But according to our understanding of timespace as it stands now, they are possible."

Oh yeah, science for the win there.

"The initial theory was known as the Einstein-Rosen Bridge--" AND NOT A GODDAMN RAINBOW. THOR. MAKING SCIENCE CRY. "--in which Einstein's field equations were solved with vacuum solutions. This theory, though, does not mean travel through them is possible."

He took a moment to write up the equation for this particular kind:

"This particular type of wormhole is unsustainable and unstable. It's likely to simply pinch off and disengage before even light could pass through."

Sorry, scifi writers!

"But there is a second type that is thought to be traversable. This one is more in line with common perceptions of what a wormhole is," Reed said, adding a second equation.

"These are thought to involve travelling from one universe to another, near instantaneous travel within a single universe, or, possibly, even time travel. Though, as I said before, these remain only speculations until we have hard data on the matter and not simply math."
