The good captain stood in front of the classroom behind a table. On that table were various items he would discuss. One item was a cake, iced in lovely pale green icing. One item was a sheet of stickers, bright shiny gold stars. Another item was a little trophy, shining in brass. The final item was a small leather coin purse, tied with string.

The cake is not a lie. And surprisingly, not poisoned. )

"Ah, my little creative ducklings ♥," Shunsui said with a happy sort of sigh as everyone got settled and the drinks were passed around their usual little circle, "we have started out with so many things about writing: the fiction, the burning questions, the characters ♥! But now let us turn our attentions to beginnings ♥. Every story has a beginning; everything starts somewhere ♥. It could be in a single action, a statement, or something as small as a cherry blossom blooming on a tree outside of a window ♥. In ancient times, when poets would seek a beginning to their stories, they would implore the Muses for guidance ♥. Muses, beautiful goddesses to strike inspiration into the hearts of the men and women who wanted to create stories to entertain, to delight, to teach ♥!

"Sing, O Muse!, they'd call, guide me in my quest to reveal the truth in song, in poetry, in literary art ♥! O great Goddess, shower me with your enlightenment so that I may tell this tale, as truthfully as I may ♥. O sweet Knowledge, give me the words to paint a picture to forever endure in the minds of all who hear them ♥! O Muse, so on, so forth, etc, etc, etc....♥

"Now, whether or not you believe in the power of muses in the form of goddesses, or perhaps just muses in the form of the beauty that surrounds us every day, there is no denying that a call to them can make for beautiful poetry ♥. It, in itself, may inspire you to continue on with the story ♥. So today, let us call to the Muses ♥! Let us ask for their assistance and see what may come up ♥. I am passing around a page with a few popular examples from literature to give you an idea, and then I would like you each to compose your own invocation to the Muses ♥. Continue on with an epic poem to satisfy them, and, of course, feel free to help each other out and share ♥.

"O beautiful Muse, please spark a thought in these children's minds should they have any questions before we begin ♥!"

After wasting so much time with those cheesy mystery novels at the shop yesterday, Alexander felt he needed to make up for lost brain cells, which was exactly why, after getting down with his tasks to open the library, he was settling down behind the counter with the dustiest, oldest history book he could find.

If anyone asked, he'd swear all those yawns were merely from a lack of sleep last night. Really!

The Library is open!

No very special guests in class this week it would appear. Because Deadpool was too awesome to need another team up.

"Today we're gonna talk about something that happens with all kids," Deadpool said, arms crossed over his chest like this was totally serious business. "Unless they're overly precocious little monsters that are biding their time, lulling you into a false sense of security before they stab you to death while you sleep."

Wasn't he just cheery?

"I'm talking, of course, about temper tantrums."

Clearly!

"They can happen for any number of reasons," he continued. "They're sleepy, they're bored, they feel like pushing boundaries today, or just because they wanna. Children are insidious and less predictable than me. And that's sayin' something."

Luckily Jan was busy pretending to read a book about gay, gay penguins and had nothing to contribute to this class as an example. Or maybe she was biding her time. God help us all.

"So, how do you respond?" Deadpool asked. "Not like a bitch ass parents on those stupid Nanny 911 shows, that's for sure. God, I hate them with every fiber of my being. So, I wanna hear what you think should be done when dealing with a tantrum. Get into groups of two and discuss. Just remember that logic and reason ate useless with kids. Useless, I say!"

"Hey everyone," Dick said as the class gathered in the middle of the typical Danger Room circus tent. He was holding a box of popcorn. "This week, we're going to learn a little bit about taking care of the animals. And our helper today is going to be Bessie the elephant." Yes, Dick named the imaginary elephant that was walking over to him. He pet Bessie's trunk and continued talking.

"The most important thing to remember once again is safety. And not just your own, even if you do want to be careful when a five ton animal is stomping around. But you also have to treat the animals right. And that means feeding them, cleaning them, making sure they're healthy, and that's without trying to teach them tricks. If one of your animals gets sick because you didn't treat them right, it could die."

"So let's make it interesting today," Dick said. "For the second half of class, you can all ride an elephant. The Danger Shop can manage that. But you have to earn the right by putting in some hard work. You can wash an elephant with a hose - but your elephant may spray water back at you with his or her trunk. Or you can clean up a pile of manure so that it can be processed and sold commercially for gardens. Yes, that's what circuses do with that. Do either of those for the first half of class and you get to spend the second half on Bessie or one of her friends."

"Or you can just hang around the seats and talk, but fair warning, a moddable clown will be in that area and may try to talk. Or at least try to give you balloon animals."
