Instead of the normal teacher today, there was a turkey. And the person who had somehow been placed in charge of caring for the turkey.

"Hi, everyone! So, Mr. Rogers has feathers and won't be able to teach today." No matter how much he may gobble about his opinion on what they should do for class. No one can understand you, turkey!Captain America! No one can understand you! "But I brought some Wii's and we can play Resort for our workout today!"

Why yes, yes that turkey was glaring at him.

"We could run to," Tony added as an afterthought. "If people want to."

Maybe the turkey would stop being disappointed if you did. That sad, sad turkey.

The weather was beginning to get to Hermione. It was also starting to get to her hair (okay, to be honest, it had been getting to her hair) which had poofed out and nothing she could do seemed to tame it at all. She'd tried for class, she had, but hopefully no one would find it too distracting.

"So far we've talked about researching and preparing for when you support the hero's plan and want to help," she began, "but you probably won't always feel that way. Sometimes the plan can have some inherent flaw that you need to point out, or they want to break some rule that you know will only get them into more trouble without any benefit, or they just outright want to face their enemy when you know it's a bad idea. Or perhaps they want to go off alone when you know they need a team behind them. At these times, they're going to need someone to disagree with them. You don't have to blindly go along with a plan just because they came up with it. At the very least, if you point out flaws, it might improve the plan they have. The important thing is to not hit them, no matter how much they deserve it. They won't listen to you at all if you do that."

Not that Hermione had ever been tempted to do that. Nope. Never.

"For today's exercise, I'd like you all to to choose from one of three scenarios that someone else will talk you out of. You can come up with as much detail for the scenario as you'd like as long as you tell the other person, and you'll both practice trying to talk some sense into each other."

Ghanima was far more serious today than she had been during the previous classes, but her calm demenour did not betray the storm of emotion just under her skin.

"The question of free will is if, and in what sense, rational agents exercise control over their actions and decisions," she began without preamble.  "Addressing this question requires understanding the relationship between freedom and cause, and determining whether the laws of nature are causally deterministic."

O God! that one might read the book of fate. -- WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE, King Henry IV, Part II  )

"Now, then, let's ponder." Ghanima leaned against the wall to survey the room. "Moral responsibility, madness, and free will. Go."

It was a slightly sheepish William who unlocked the library somewhat later in the morning than he was supposed to. Tardiness wasn't something he approved of, so to be guilty of it himself was... somewhat embarassing.

He'd been working on soldering a rather intricate connection on the motherboard of what would eventually be his computer and had gotten so wrapped up in getting it precisely right that he simply hadn't noticed the time.

The classroom setup should be familiar to everyone by now; the remaining mystery was what kind of cupcakes were lurking beneath the covered plates on the front counter.

Fish in cupcakes? Again? Are there really that many fishy cupcakes out there? Yes. Sadly, there are. )
