Advanced Driver's Ed, Monday Period Two

If Bond was perturbed by the fact he had somehow lost the last two days, he wasn't showing it when the class entered the Danger Shop to find themselves in what looked like a control room of some description hanging out over a wide floor filled with various cars.

"Good morning, class," Bond said from his position next to a bank of controls, he pressed one and one of the cars below started moving along the floor. "Today we'll be looking at what happens when cars crash." He pressed another button and the car hit a suddenly appearing embankment, rolled, and then rather inexplicably exploded.

"These remotes will enable you to control the various cars and the environment down on the floor, amongst other things. So feel free to experiment." Bond was quite fond of the 'inexplicable explosions' control himself.

Chemistry; Tuesday, Period One [ 04/05 ].

"Alright, kids," said Kūkaku, when it was time to get class started, "we're gonna continue on our investigation of the chemistry of the human body with something I'm jus' gonna assume ya all have: the brain."

She gave the detailed diagram on the board a little thwap with a pointer stick. It looked much like the brains on all the lab tables, which, like the stomachs from last week, looked designed to see what happens inside.

"So we've got these model brains that, like our model stomachs, will show you a generalization of the processes the brain goes through when a neurochemical like serotonin is activated. Take note of the parts of the brain that react, and how, and then, if you want, play around with some other neurochemicals and how they effect your model brain.

"And, when you're done with that, we're gonna have some time left for a short video that might be of interest."

Because Kūkaku was cruel sometimes.

The students would find a heart-laden note on the door of the usual classroom directing them to the gym once more and, when they arrived, they'd find mats on the floor and their teacher tilting his head to them.

Intro to the 21st Century, Tuesday, Second Period

"So, your final is in two weeks," Cindy said when class began, having asked everyone to meet her in the Danger Shop again. "Next week, we'll have a review session, so please come to class with your notes and some questions prepared. Today, however, we're going to take some time to learn a little more about the changes in two major areas of science: aviation, which opened up this world to us, and spaceflight, which may open up the solar system to us in as little as the next few decades."

With the touch of a few buttons DC's National Air and Space Museum appeared in front of them. "We have an hour," Cindy said, "so feel free to explore, but make sure to catch at least a few of the exhibits, okay?" And then she made shooing motions with her hands. "Go forth! Learn! Have fun!"

Science is Awesome!!!, Class #13, Period 3, April 5th

The blonde badly-dressed Al Bhed was not quite so bouncy as her usual, but she was doing her best nonetheless.

"Hiya," she said. "I hope you're all sufficiently recovered from the weekend, 'cause we're getting right back into it today. Today, we're going to have fun with Physics!"

She held that a beat as if waiting for an excited response of some kind.

"Anyway," she said. "Physics is the study of matter and motion. There's matter, and then there's energy. There are all kinds of energy, like potential energy -- that's when something is sitting high up, and it could fall, but it's not going to yet? But if it did, it'd have a lot of energy going all over the place. Kinetic energy is energy of motion. That'd be if you nudged it over and it fell. The potential energy becomes kinetic energy."

"At the heart of it, physics wants to understand the world around us. Which I guess you could say about all science, but in different ways, you know? Biology was life, and astronomy was all those other planets and stars. Physics is objects and motion and gravity, while chemistry is the chemical compounds that make it all up. That's why science is awesome, by the way. Because every day, we're learning more about the world around us, and the world around us is fascinating."

Rikku was now holding up a leaf blower and a yardstick. "So today we're going to do some basic, fun physics experiments so we can look at some interesting results. And next week -- there's not going to be a final, don't worry. But I might ask you to talk a little about science, and what you think you've learned. Okay?"

Library, Tuesday

Rinoa was thoughtful, today, at her library shift. Last week had been ... exhausting, but the weekend had given her rather a lot to think about.

Also, she should apologize to the librarian for missing her last shift. She did, at least, have a good reason for her absence.

In the meantime, she was going to browse the shelves, looking for something that caught her eye. Today seemed like a good day to curl up behind the desk and read.
