William knew it was going to be one of those days when he donned his hat after leaving the dorms only to be covered in a shower of rose petals that had seemingly appeared inside it. Which was odd because he was quite certain he'd seen nothing of the sort when first grabbing said hat.

Things only intensified once he got to the library. Not only were there white and red rose petals that seemed to appear on every available surface, no matter how many times he swept them away, but every once and a while he'd come across a pile of shredded petals.

"Of course," he sighed. "The War of the Roses."

Today the students would find themselves standing on a desert small island in the middle of the ocean, with no other land in sight. Jaina herself was standing on the beach beside a large yellow life raft, and unfortunately last week's good mood had not carried over.

"This scenario might be a little obvious. You've been stranded on this island. You've got a couple choices. Either you can stay on the island, or you can set off in the raft. The mainland is out there, you've seen it. So it's up to you to each decide which way to go, collect your supplies, and work together however you think is appropriate. By the end of the class, a plane might very well come by, and it'd be up to you to attract its attention.

"Oh," Jaina added, "the raft probably has rose petals in it. I've cleaned them out twice and now you're going to have to deal."

Genesis lounged in his chair looking bored. The lights of the class room were off, leaving the students to fumble their way to chairs and desks without being able to see clearly.

He supposed, really, that he could have turned the lights off after everyone arrived, but that would have meant giving up his chair. Psssht, not happening.

“Movie day,” Reno announced, because that would at least explain why everyone was sitting in the dark. “A movie about friendship an’ caring and teamwork an’ shit, yo. And then after, when we got the lights back on, you can tell us how your singing adventures went, yo. Because I got this song that ain’t never gonna end stuck in my friggin’ head, now, and I wanna know all about who else had to suffer with your singin’, yo.”

Reno was nice like that.

“No sleeping,” Genesis announced idly. “Or I’ll insist all of you write essays about the movie and actually give grades.” And he’d give them all failing grades. So nice, was Genesis.

Genesis lifted the remote and started the movie.

[Wait for the OCD is uuup.]

“Heya, guys!” Zack was all smiles, which was probably not a huge shock, as the KKG members gathered, today. “So, as most of you probably know, there’s that dance coming up later this week, the one for that weird holiday with all of the chocolate? And dances usually involve, you know, dancing.”

Words of wisdom from Zack Fair, gentleman.

Quite. Hopefully, Zack Fair, gentleman, wouldn’t take the smirk on Alexander’s face. “Or perhaps brooding in dark corners, but, of course, such is not the way for a Kappa Kappa Gremlin. Perhaps it is just my own royal training interfering, but, as Gremlins, we should all be very respectful members of the community, the types of gentlemen who strive to be emulated and admired. As such, with a dance upcoming, it is very important to actually know how to dance.”

“Now,” Alexander offered, “I know proper dancing is still something I still struggle with, and I won’t speak for Zack, but we thought it was best to bring in some outside help with this, especially since she’s also been well trained in the etiquette for formal occasions, too. So please be gentlemen in welcoming Miss Jane Porter to the fraternity today, and treat her with respect so that we can learn to be more...er...respectable. Not that we don’t need it, of course. I mean, we’re all...um...yes. Miss Porter, if you please?”

“Thank you, Mr. Fair, your highness,” the prim and proper primatology teacher took delicate steps in and tried not to giggle at her best attempt to actually be putting her finishing school lessons to use, “Mr. Fair. Gentlemen.” She turned to the club with a curtsy and then smiled to them all. “I have been asked to come in today and teach you proper dancing so none of you make absolute fools of yourself or step on any feet, because you know girls spend an awful lot of money on shoes for these things, so we’d best not trod on them, yes? Now, what I’m going to do, is I’d like to show you each a few steps, so I’ll take volunteers to come on up and be my dashing partner to demonstrate them to your fellow brothers. And then, afterwards, we’ll make sure we practise, because practise makes perfect!”

“But do watch the rose petals,” Jane advised. “They can be a bit slippery if you catch them just right. Mr. Fair, music, if you would be so kind.”

Welcome to the Danger Shop configured to look just like a regular school classroom.

"We've talked about how magic can affect someone directly in combat. Both how it can affect you as a user through things like flight or invisibility, and how it can affect others through projectiles or energy attacks. But magic is flexible enough to do more than just that. Which, since you're all smart and pay attention, you've figured out is the topic of today's class."

"Controlling your environment is one of the most powerful things you can do with magic, and one of the most difficult things to overcome when facing a skilled opponent." Max eyed his students thoughtfully, wondering who would learn this lesson and who would have trouble with it.

"Hopefully by now you've all learned how big a deal it is to control where a fight takes place." That had been one of the big points of the class on flight, after all. "Being able to manipulate your environment provides you with a lot of the same advantages no matter where you are. If you can pass through walls, for instance, then your opponent will be constrained by the room or hallway they're in while you have freedom of movement. If you can telekinetically move furniture around you can sometimes achieve the same effect."

"And if you can actually shape your environment?" Max grinned, concentrated, and stepped back as a massive wall of concrete rose up out of the floor, stopping when it was about three feet high. "You can guarantee yourself all sorts of advantages."

"This is one of those things that most people have trouble wrapping their heads around until they've had some experience, so it's time for everyone's favorite part of this class: the activity."

"Each of you have three minutes to find somewhere in this building that you think will provide you with the most advantage in a fight. And then I'll come and find you." And they'd find out if they'd made a good choice.

"Your three minutes begins now."

Instead of the beloved teachers, there was only a television and a note written on the board. For those with a keen eye, it might be obvious that it was Sherlock's handwriting.

Found a case worth my time. Watch the mind numbing drivel your age group seems to find entertaining.

If one came up a bit closer, one could conceivably also read Watson's contribution, which was a simple, Please don't reproduce anything you will see in this film. I hear it is sex ed tradition.

The film being Canadian Tart.

Yeah, John didn't even want to talk about it. But do make a list of everything that seems like it could be dangerous.

Below it, one final, small note could be found. It read, simply,
William, check your phone.

Mysterious.
