Fighting With Powers [Monday, Fourth Period]

Welcome to the Danger Shop configured to look just like a regular school classroom.

"We've talked about how magic can affect someone directly in combat. Both how it can affect you as a user through things like flight or invisibility, and how it can affect others through projectiles or energy attacks. But magic is flexible enough to do more than just that. Which, since you're all smart and pay attention, you've figured out is the topic of today's class."

"Controlling your environment is one of the most powerful things you can do with magic, and one of the most difficult things to overcome when facing a skilled opponent." Max eyed his students thoughtfully, wondering who would learn this lesson and who would have trouble with it.

"Hopefully by now you've all learned how big a deal it is to control where a fight takes place." That had been one of the big points of the class on flight, after all. "Being able to manipulate your environment provides you with a lot of the same advantages no matter where you are. If you can pass through walls, for instance, then your opponent will be constrained by the room or hallway they're in while you have freedom of movement. If you can telekinetically move furniture around you can sometimes achieve the same effect."

"And if you can actually shape your environment?" Max grinned, concentrated, and stepped back as a massive wall of concrete rose up out of the floor, stopping when it was about three feet high. "You can guarantee yourself all sorts of advantages."

"This is one of those things that most people have trouble wrapping their heads around until they've had some experience, so it's time for everyone's favorite part of this class: the activity."

"Each of you have three minutes to find somewhere in this building that you think will provide you with the most advantage in a fight. And then I'll come and find you." And they'd find out if they'd made a good choice.

"Your three minutes begins now."

Momoko was definitely remembering their previous lessons as he spoke. Especially the part where he'd totally won their sparring because she couldn't get back in the air.

Oh, like there was any question where she felt the most in control?

A quick transformation and Blossom was in the air awaiting Centurion and his (totally cool, not that she was envious or anything) windstorms.

"Of course!" She grinned. "It gives me the best advantage in a fight! Isn't that what you said we were supposed to look for?"

Leda cast a speed spell on herself, going to the garage. She knew it well, and if this were a real situation, she'd like the escape option her bike gave her.

Would Leda count as an out of place presence? She was in here a lot. She wasn't using any magic to hide herself, simply ducking behind some equipment.

Cassidy wasn't about to try to fight and fly, so instead she found the nearest place that resembled a garden and started running through spells in her head.

Right. Find a place she could use to her advantage. Stephanie still didn't have any powers, but she'd learned plenty about using her surroundings. She'd have the advantage on the high ground if she had a grappling line on hand, but she wasn't about to pull her grapple gun out, so she headed for a ground-floor classroom with plenty of desks and chairs -- obstacles, or possible weapons -- and windows big enough to make a break through (not literally, she hoped!) if she had to.

"I couldn't go with a boring one," Stephanie countered. She stepped into an aisle between the rows of desks, watching him; she probably would've had a better advantage if she'd jumped down at him, but the only shelves in the room were floor-to-ceiling units.

There was a chair within reach if she chose to throw it, but she'd keep that one up her sleeve for just a little while longer.

Just a little --

Screw it, the chair went flying.

Sorry Karla is not in class today. She's napping after helping get an amnesiac vampire his memory back.

Man. My excuse notes were NEVER this cool.

Rinoa is doing ... the exact same thing!

This is totally what my excuse notes were always like. "Um ... I had the same problem he did! Seriously! ... Really?"

You're short a Tara too, for the same reason.

I had pathetically good attendance, so I can't compare this to my real excuse notes.

I would love to play things out as long as you don't mind way SP?

Otherwise, handwaving is fine and I can even tell you what she would do. :D
