Oh, well, this was it! This was the first day of her very first class, and Jane was terribly excited. And horribly nervous. But mostly excited! Her nerves were all aflutter, which kept her bouncing slightly as she'd straightened the books and papers on the desk at the front of the classroom for the tenth time, checked to make sure her hair was still properly pinned up for the thirtieth time, and smoothed out her dress for the fiftieth. She'd lost track of how many times she'd adjusted her collar, and she tried to keep her beaming smile down to only a few thousand suns as the students started to file into the class and claim their seats. When it started to look as though they were all there, she took a moment to count heads and, finding the number satisfactory, she nodded and clapped her hands together.

Surprisingly, they're studying baboons, and not teal dear as it might appear... )

"Welcome to class," she said, flipping her files shut and glancing around the room. "My name is Assistant District Attorney Alexandra Cabot. You can call me Alex, or if you'd rather, Miss Cabot is fine. This class is called Nation Building and the Origin of Government."

When Cassidy showed up at the library and she found Zatanna there, she went from happy about the new aide position to excited. She liked Zatanna and now getting to work with her would be fun and give them a chance to get to know each other better and be friends.

Zatanna had arrived just a little earlier, and was still trying not to be too overly excited about it. Seeing Cassidy didn't really help, but in this case one could say it was a good thing? "Hey Cass-!" Zatanna stopped, realizing she had been, well, shouting. "Hey Cass...", repeated, this time lower, but still smiling at her. A lot.

Cassidy grinned at her. "Hey, Zee!" She really hoped Zatanna didn't mind the nickname. She would have no problem using her full name for her if she did. "I guess we're going to be partners on Thursdays here. Isn't this great." If it helped, Cassidy was bouncing a little, too?

She loved to be called Zee, actually, and the fact Cassidy had came to use it made her a little bit bouncier for a while. And she hadn't said a thing about the nickname she had given to her, so all the best. "I guess we will! Definitely great. This place can get creepy if it gets too silent."

Cassidy had never had a nickname and the fact that Zee was using one for her made her happy that they knew they could be good friends like that. "Yeah, I've noticed that when I've been in here. I have a feeling that we won't end up getting creeped out." Exploring and being curious, though? Oh yeah, quite probably.

"Or if we will, at least we won't be alone. And Mr. Tamble is here...somewhere." They were totally going to do some exploring around, but she would like to check in with the man before any library shenanigans. Even if Henry would point he didn't want any library shenanigans. "So, ready to open this thing?" Because she was a bit nervous.

"And Mr. Tamble is a nice man, too." Cassidy nodded and smiled. "Yes, let's get our first day here started." Well, Cassidy was nervous, too, so at least they would be in good company?

She clapped -silently- and nodded. It could only get better from that point.

So the library was open!

"Welcome to Myths and Legends of the Deep," Summer began, as soon as the last student settled in. "For those of you that don't know me, I'm Summer Pitt. You can call me Summer or Miss Pitt, if you prefer."

Summer passed out the syllabus before continuing. "Throughout this course, we will cover myths and legends pertaining to the ocean. Today, we're going to take it easy and just start with introductions. I'd like your name, grade and what myth you'd like to cover the most. It can be anything you can think of and it doesn't have to be on the syllabus," she explained.

"I also know that we all come from different worlds, so some of these might actually exist where you come from. So, please, let me know if that's the case and I'll gladly change to a new topic if you want me to."

Summer didn't want to make her students uncomfortable, after all.

"Next week, we'll be meeting in the Danger Shop." I'm also looking for one or two TAs, if anyone's interested."

As the students walked into the class, Lucas - still wearing his leather jacket, for the record - was standing in front of his desk, holding a skateboard behind his neck with one hand, staring down at his phone in the other hand, and laughing occasionally. "Ha ha. HipHopGroceries. That's a great hashtag. Flavor Flav-or-ice. I remember that stuff. I gotta retweet that." It wasn't until a little bit after the bell rang that he finally looked up at his class.

"Hey. How're you doing? Great? Good. I'm fine, bro, thanks for asking. This is How to Be a Really Famous Actor (And Other Acting Tips)," Lucas said, really pronouncing the hell out of those parentheses. "I'm Lucas Lee, but you knew that already. And if you didn't, what's wrong with you? Don't you like movies? Then why the hell are you here? Hopefully, it's because you want to be a really famous and probably good actor. Or maybe you want to be just an okay actor who's kind of famous with nerds and gets millions of twitter followers because they love when you talk about video games or something. Or maybe you just want to be a nobody who will never amount to anything more than local theater because you suck." He didn't have anything against local theater. He was just better than it. His bank account was proof of that.

Lucas put the skateboard on the desk, then pounded the desk with a fist for emphasis. "Well, this is the class for you! Except for the last person. Shove off, loser. We've only got time for potential superstars here. But those first two people are more than welcome to learn from me, a master of the craft. Also, if anyone wants to learn some sweet skateboard tricks, I'll be behind the school after classes. Bring your boards. I'll give coupons for some of the gear I sell from my skate company."

"We're going to start with some simple stuff today. Introductions..." Lucas paused until the drama had built up to its boiling point, "and improvisation. The first thing is when you tell me your name, your age, how much you love me, and something about yourself that you're going to repeat every time somebody does an article about you when you're famous. The second thing is when I pretend to care." Lucas laughed a little bit at his little joke there, but just enough to make it clear that it didn't have to be a joke if you sucked. "But then you also have to make up a character on the spot and introduce them the same way. Maybe I'll ask you some questions for your character to answer. Maybe I won't. I want to keep you on your toes."

The classroom was decidedly boring today. The Doctor may have had too much fun programming the perfect quaint classroom. There was a blackboard! And chalk residue! And bluebirds outside the window!

"Welcome to Adventures, Capers and Escapes. I need to not let Rory name my classes. If you need anything and can't find me, or if you want to lodge a complaint that will fall upon deaf ears, these are my TAs, Bobby and Cara. Cara, show them your boots. The number one rule in this class is wear sensible shoes. Cara is the only exception to this rule because she has an unusual centre of gravity that makes her impossible boots possible. This is Bobby. He does wear sensible shoes, but if you're in need of a short answer, ask for one or you've only yourself to blame for what happens next.

Sensible shoes! And clean underwear. Adventure usually lasts longer than you expect, then leaves you in the middle of nowhere without your bag of toiletries.

Now, you should always be prepared for adventure. The best kind happens when you don't plan on it. Talk to each other about what you should start carrying in your pockets to prepare yourself for an unexpected adventure. Try to make them interesting. No boringness allowed."

Today's class met in a proper classroom, as Hook had not yet been introduced to the amazing world of the Danger Shop. His normal hook traded out for a rod which held a piece of chalk, he wrote his name on the blackboard as the students filtered in and sat at their desks. He also drew a little detailed picture of a large twin masted ship.

Arrrrrr Matey )

"There's a brief idea of what we'll be covering. I assure you, I have the greatest of knowledge when it comes to all matters covered, and a formal education at Eaton as well as my years at sea. You are in the best of... hand with me."

He laughed, a little longer than normal people would laugh.

"Any questions?"
