In a stunning and unexpected change, Rick was actually there at the start of class, albeit looking somewhat the worse for wear. There was also coffee and moddable pastries, lots of both.

"Morning kids," he greeted the class. "Sorry about missing the last few classes, but I was unavoidably detained." Well, that was one way of putting it.

"Today's class is going to have two parts," Rick continued. "Firstly we're going to do a kind of brainstorming session, talking a bit about ourselves, you know skills you might have, the kind of things you'd carry around with you on a random day when you're off campus, that sort of thing. After we've done that, you're each going to dash off a quick story synopsis about being stuck down a hole in the woods with your classmates. How you might use your various skills and items as a team to survive until you either escape or are rescued."

"At the end of the class, you'll share your outlines with the rest of the class, so we can get an idea of how different people can take the same basic information and interpret it in wildly different ways through the lens of their own personality and experience."

Fraser was nowhere to be found when it was time for class. There was no note, no explanation, nothing. The classroom was quiet, empty, as if no one had been there since yesterday. Ordinarily, students might see this as a good thing, getting out of an early morning class.

Considering what was going on outside, staying in the classroom might almost seem like the better option.

Sophie had sent an e-mail to everyone last night-- but just in case they didn't get it, she went to the school and left a message on the door of her classroom.

Class is canceled. I should hope you're all staying somewhere safe and out of harm's way in the midst of all this. If you're not, and feel compelled to do something silly like wander about downtown fighting things, I'll be at my gallery at 4 Apocalypse Avenue. You're welcome to hide there if you need to. - Sophie

With everything that appeared to be going on around the island, Blackagar was almost glad to be at the library where things were still in their place. Since, there was very little else he could do to assist, he was dipping into the stacks to look for any books on the subject of disappearances.

...which somehow left him with a large stack on the Bermuda Triangle.

Less than helpful, really.

Steve had sent out an e-mail (yes, he could use e-mail) last night, letting his students know that class was canceled for today. If anyone showed up, they would find the room dark and a sign on the door saying GO BACK TO A SAFE SPACE.

He'd considered adding something about not trying to be heroes, but he'd basically given up on that with this student body, at this point.

"Hey guys," Dean said when everyone had filtered in. "Short class today. I'm going to talk a little bit, and then give you an assignment, and you can then brainstorm, or even take off early if you want.

Today we're focusing on toys. )

A special emergency meeting of the Reserves had been called. There were no snacks today, both to underscore the seriousness of the meeting and because they were meeting in the library and no one had wanted to risk the librarian’s wrath. Or the books’.

“Thanks to everyone who came,” Karla said. “If you listened to radio last night--” or were even marginally observant “--you probably already know that something’s going on. People are vanishing, falling into holes that open up at their feet. Whole buildings are gone, too. Where’s they’re going, no one knows. But other...things are slipping through to this side, too. Dangerous things. Stuff like this? This was why the Reserves were founded. So here we are.” Snipped for awesome. You should read it anyway. Trufax. )

Hawkeye wasn't there this week, if anyone showed up. If anyone happened to pass by the Danger Shop around the time the class normally was then they would have seen a sign written in marker on a piece of paper taped to the door.

Class canceled. Why are you even here? I'm at the clinic if needed. Extra credit for keeping out of danger.
