Bond had let his students know to meet him down at Serenity Cove today, where a number of boards were set up on the sand.

"Good morning, class," he began. "Today we'll be trying our hands at wakeboarding, which is a sport combining elements of water skiing, snow boarding and surfing. We'll start by practising the correct stances and such here on the sand, then I'll take you out on the water." He went on to describe and demonstrate some wakeboarding techniques.

When he was convinced they had the basics down, he clapped his hands together. "So who wants to go first?"

"Sometimes you ain't strong enough." That was Reno's opening statement for the day, yes. He was standing in the classroom well before any of the students arrived, with his arms crossed over his chest and a solemn expression on his face. Possibly the first time some of his students had seen him looking anything but smug, he supposed. They'd have to cope. "Sometimes, you're gonna have to get out there and do shit that you know is too damn big for you, and either you ain't gonna be able to get it done, or else you will, and that'll end up bein' all the worse, yo."

The library was messing with her. Not that Anemone minded

First there had been the singing last week, and last month there had been the Alots, and now there were trees in the library. Apple trees, bursting with fruit ready to be picked. Tantalizing, taunting fruit.

Anemone had already filled an entire box, and was now busy looking up recipes online in between attempts to sweep up the fallen leaves or shelve books between the branches.

At the moment, she was debating between Apple Cheddar Scones or some Apple Salsa Frittata. She had enough apples for both, really, but she needed to leave enough for pie...

The library was open, and beware the aide. She might try to feed you.

Functional French, Tuesday, Period 2

The students who arrived early today would find no sign of their teacher. Nor would the students who arrived right on time, or even those who crept in five minutes late.

But, eventually -- about 15 minutes into the hour -- Henry raced in the door, wearing a misbuttoned shirt a size too big and with a long smudge of mud along one cheek.

It was better the class not ask.

"Sorry about that," he tossed off. "We're talking about emergencies today, and I had one, lucky me."

Again ... better not to ask.

He passed out several handouts, briefly lecturing on their content. Then he smiled at the class. "For your assignment today, I'd like for you to pair up. One of you is in an assigned emergency, the other is helping you. Then reverse the situation."

Today, class was back at the Danger Shop.

Summer had set it up to look like a beach with a cliff face and different sized rocks strewn about the sand. She was perched on one of the rocks in the front of the room.

"Sea lions and seals share some similarities and are often confused for each other but they are, in fact, two distinct species," Summer concluded.
