"Good afternoon, my eager home ec'ers!" Aquaman greeted the class with his usual gusto and smile, standing amid a home ec classroom that looked like a fabric store had imbibed about five hundred drinks too many and ralphed all over the place. "I hope your weekends were good ones, productive and life-fulfilling! And I hope your Mondays have also gotten you prepared for another fun and exiting week in the adventure that is summer camp! But enough of that! Let us march onward to our next exciting chapter in this book of the economics of the home!"

With that, Aquaman reached back, a dramatic pose like one about to pull forth a sword to cause great damage to evil doers everywhere, and then brandished...

...a sewing needle.

With a little bit of orange thread still dangling loose from the eye.

Darn Darning! )

"So have at it! Really sew this clothing who's boss!"

Yes, he thought that was funny. Shhh.

Students met in the Danger Shop this week, which was set-up to resemble a regular classroom. "You've made it back," Ghanima said, looking over the class as people arrived. "Today we're going to go a bit more complex than last week; we'll be looking at what makes Fandom different from most other schools. Namely, the prevalence of parallel universes, the school's propensity for being invaded by hostile entities, and our mascot, the Gremlin."

Gremlins and Alternate Realities and Invasions, OH MY! )

"Today, for your practical, we'll be combining parts of what we've talked about today," Ghanima said. "We are playing a game of Tag against a special guest.. Please stand."

"And this week, we're starting with the actual comedy," Mitchell said, without really seguing much. "Not to disparage anyone's jokes, but I think some of you are dearly in need of some education."

He clapped his hands.

"Let's start at the beginning," he said. "Like most genres in television, the TV comedy was birthed from the radio tradition. In fact, in the old days, some sitcoms on TV ran concurrent with similar shows on the radio, such as Hancock's Half Hour. Sadly, a lot of these series have been lost, such as Pinwright's Progress, which was never recorded in a fashion it could be recovered in."

Mitchell had seen it. Not that he'd brag about it.

"So sadly, we have to look to the sixties for the real material. If you stay in Britain, at least. The 'sitcom', the situational comedy, was always the most prevalent kind of TV comedy. The other two options were stand-up and sketch comedy; the former involved a single person, sometimes two, talking to the audience. The second involved unrelated short bits of comedy, stuffed into a single show. Like meta for Monty Python, but we'll be getting to that next week. Sitcoms, on the other hand, had a consistent storyline set in a situational background. Like a family, or a business."

He pushed himself up out of his chair. "So much for the boring background," he said, "We're here to watch TV, right? Early fifties, and the sixties. We'll show some examples of British and American sitcoms and see about the differences."

Beat.

"And then I want you all to tell me which part of your life would work the best as a sitcom. Just for the fun of it."

Walter looks like a kid about to play one of his favorite games today. He's smiling and sipping something cold from a paper cup that has a long-handled plastic spoon sticking out of it.

There are kits set out for the students' use today. Each kit contains a strip of surgical tape, a microchip in a plastic vial, two cell phone-sized boxes that bear strange resemblances to compasses, a pair of walkie talkies, and a handout on how to triangulate.

"Since I am discouraged from actively inserting anything subdermally in students, the surgical tape will have to do," Walter announces, apropos of nothing once the students have settled themselves. He sounds a tad disgruntled, but a sip from his cup seems to help his mood.

"Today we'll be working with hands on applications of geometry, but I have been reminded that this is summer camp, so I am endeavoring to make it more jocular." Clearly Walter thinks that most things can be made jocular with the right mindset, but not everyone has his imagination.

"Today we will be playing a version of hide and seek. Break down into groups of three. Since we have 14 students, I will be in one of the groups." He nearly clapped his hands together at the prospect.

"One student will be the hider. That lucky person will tape one of the chips to the back of his or her neck and hide anywhere on the island. We'll give you..." he paused and thought about it. "A ten minute head start. You can agree among your groups whether the hider should choose a place and stay in it or whether he or she can lead you on a merry chase.

"Next week I will have a prize for all students who found their hider within three hours. Now get going!"*

[ooc: So sorry! No excuses but confusing life. Two minutes for OCD please. *He'll forget the prizes. Sorry.]

Bond had told his class to meet him down at Serenity Cove this morning and to wear their bathers. Once they arrived, he greeted them while once more wearing those tiny blue swim trunks, as well as a snorkel mask and set of flippers.

"Good morning, class," he greeted the class, completely ignoring the fact he most likely made a slightly absurd figure. "As you familiar with my equipment can probably guess, today we're going to be doing a spot of snorkelling. For those of you unfamiliar with the snorkelling, it's the practice of swimming either on or through a body of water with a diving mask, and a snorkel, which is this breathing tube here, and usually a set of swim fins as well."

Bond continued on for several minutes, explaining some of the basics of snorkelling, as well as some important safety tips. Once he was sure they'd gotten the point he gestured to the provided equipment. "We'll spend the rest of the class having a snorkel around the cove, see if we can spot any interesting sea-life." He glanced at the dragon if he was there. "Though they may be slightly less of it than usual. Make sure to always keep at least one class mate in sight at all times though, I'd like to finish class with the same number of students I started with, and I'm sure you would too."

"Also, while we're still not quite in summer proper, there is a definite chance of sunburn, so please put on some sunscreen before going into the water."

"Today we're going to continue with land-based transportation," Anakin said as he swept into the flight shed. He pointed to the flight simulators. "These have been set up as speeder bikes, which go up to 400 kilometers an hour and can be equipped with laser cannons." He pointed to the right hand simulation. "This one has been set up for target practice if you are comfortable with such an exercise. In this simulation, you will find yourself on a forest moon. In the left hand one, you're in a planet-wide city that makes the worst Los Angeles traffic look like a day at the beach."

He smiled at them. "Please don't hit a tree or a building. If you do it accidentally, there will be mocking. If you do it on purpose there will be detention. You may begin."
