Jono was doing that thing that Jono did, where he pointedly ignored things that were bothering him, because the alternative meant that he would be facing those things, and that was all the worse, really.

This meant mostly that Jonothon's shift in the library today was going to consist of him reading anything and everything that he could grab that didn't have mention of gods in it, because... Look, he had a family history that he didn't want to get into, here, and the convention that was happening on the island this weekend had him slightly perturbed.

And that was how he managed to get himself lost in a stack of Popular Mechanics magazines so thick that they, when stacked on the desk in front of him, did an excellent job doubling as a miniature periodical fortress.

[Open library, yay!]

Gabrielle had managed to miss out on the convention over the weekend, courtesy of a trip home -- it had been her birthday on Saturday, and Xena had insisted on her coming home for it.

For the now-traditional day full of practical jokes, of course.

She'd gotten the mud washed out of her hair, and the pink lemonade (shut up, they had that in ancient Greece) in the trick cup Xena'd slipped her at that tavern had washed out of her top without much trouble, but the palms of her hands were still bright red from the ink-soaked trick rope.

. . . sigh. At least it had been done out of love, and only by one person. Gabrielle was really just glad Xena hadn't thought to tell any of her friends here to prank her, either. Even a bard of such capacious patience as she had could only take so much.

Oh, who was she kidding? It had been fun, and Gabrielle was definitely humming in her cheerful, tuneless way as she went about her tasks. Not even a particularly snappish volume on plant life in the tundra (thank the gods for tough leather boots) was going to damp her mood.

"Alright," Guy said as soon as the class was assembled. "Last week we did that introduction crud, so this week we'll be playing a lil' game for you all to really get to know each other. Football."

That smirk of his was highly unnecessary.

"Split off into two teams and get to it." A beat. "And no, this ain't flag football, but if you get out of hand, I will throw your dumb ass in detention, got it? Good. Get to it."

There was a pause as he looked over the teams and how it was a bit uneven the way he had if figured out originally.

"Reyes, you can ref."

Ah, that also solved the problem of his ring going into overdrive with the kid 'attacking' people.

Ah, the wonders of the RNG )
