doubleohblonde: (Bond is cut up but happy)

Bond had his class meet him on the front lawn of the school today.

"Good morning, class," he said, clapping his hands together. "I trust you all had a pleasant Easter, which is why we're going to spend the class working off some of those chocolates and hot cross buns." And if any members of the class hadn't overindulged in the aforementioned food items, then Bond felt that they had rather missed the point.

"We're going to be working on a combination of situational awareness and close quarters dodging today." He reached across to tap the nearest student on the shoulder. "You're it. No tag backs."

"Much of life--especially in the realm of ethics--is about balance," Anakin began, making a show of not looking concerned that the seat Leia normally filled was empty today. "For every vice there is a virtue. We have covered the seven deadly sins--" he began ticking them off on his fingers: "Lust, gluttony, greed, sloth, wrath, envy, and pride. We've also discussed some of the seven virtues: temperance, which balanced gluttony, and diligence, which balanced sloth."

He began pacing the room. "The key to living these virtues is restraint, which is a very Jedi concept. We've already briefly touched upon chastity in our talk of love, so that leaves us with charity, patience, kindness and humility."

None of which exactly described Anakin. "Which of those four do you have the easiest time embracing in your own life?" he asked. "And which requires work? Do you think it's worth learning restraint to live these virtues?"

"The semester is almost over, and we've spent most of it learning what I know from my own experience with difficult women would turn out to be useful to you one day. But we all come from different worlds with different expectations and cultures and so on, so I would be a poor instructor if I didn't take that into account for this course." Max quirked an eyebrow at his students, as if daring any of them to suggest he was a poor instructor.

"And since all of you are quite bright, I figure the best way to do this is to simply let each of you have five minutes."

"I've worked up an order," well, he was actually just going to point at people at random until everyone had gotten pointed at, but whatever, "so when I call your name, come up to the front of the classroom and teach us something about difficult women that we haven't covered yet. In order to make sure we get done in time, let's go ahead and get started. I wouldn't want anyone to get short-changed on their five minutes, after all."

Anemone was bored, so today she was putting up a display for 'Explore Your Career Options' Week. Resume guides, books on networking, vocational handouts... she was of the private opinion that more seniors should be worried about their after-school plans than picking a prom outfit.

There was a message on the board when the students came in: REMINDER--YOUR FINAL PAPERS AND PRESENTATIONS ARE DUE THE LAST DAY OF CLASS. DECIDE WHICH (OR BOTH OR NEITHER) HEROIC JOURNEY WENDY UNDERGOES THROUGHOUT THE COURSE OF THE SERIES.

As for Cindy herself, she was behind her desk, waiting for the bell to ring. )

The desks were arranged into a table, and there weren't enough seats for everyone to sit down.  Covering the table was an array of - well, it could be called junk - packs of cards, silk handkerchiefs, bells, silverware, rope, paper cups, and a whole bunch of books on how to do magic tricks.

Alysha waited for everyone to come in, if not take a seat, before she started talking.  "Good to see you all survived the weekend yet again," she said, a tiny smile on her face.  "We've been talking a lot about magic, about inborn talents and how you use them.  Today, we're talking about something that's purely learned."  She gestured to the table.

"Some people would argue that magic tricks are completely unethical.  They're all fakes in a way after all, and often times magicians are attempting to solicit donations or sell tickets, earning money from their tricks.  So is that ethical?  Does your perception change if the people playing the money know in some way that the tricks are faked?"

She raised an eyebrow, glancing over the class to make sure people were following.  "And while you're thinking about it and discussing it, go ahead and try some of these tricks out.  Most of them rely on hand speed and strength, but a lot of the others are pure misdirection."  She grinned easily.  "All of you are very talented people, let's see what happens when magic isn't at play."
