Ziva was glad that things were back to normal (or normal-ish, since this was still Fandom) because it meant she could go back to studying for her citizenship exam.

Or, in the case of this week, she could go back to exploring Facebook. What? It totally counted as studying American culture to find out what people did with themselves all day.

Sam was very glad to have his nice, quiet library back, especially since it meant no one was trying to take over the island again. Of course, the down side to things being calm was that Sam found himself at a loss as to what to do with his time, and while he wasn't entirely certain, he had a feeling that his day today would be split between playing The Sims and glaring in the direction of Special Collections.

Some students bring apples for the teacher, but today, Harper had taken things one step further. She was giving today's lesson and had dressed up for the occasion. That meant the red dress made from an apple-print fabric, with the little dangling apple earrings, the plastic apple necklace, and of course her little bouquet of candy apples.

"Miss Matthews thought it would be a good idea for me to start our discussion today on how to keep magic on the down low," Harper began as she twirled one of her apples. After all, there was no one better to talk about remaining inconspicuous than her.

"While everyone here in Fandom is pretty cool with magic, that might not be true elsewhere," said Harper. "Since I come from a place that doesn't have magic, I thought I could give you some good tips. First of all, if you're doing anything with magic, don't do it in public where everyone can see you. You know what would be really great for hiding all your magic stuff? A secret room!" Maybe like the wizard lair magically hidden inside a freezer, the one that Harper knew nothing about.

"Another thing you might have to become good at when practicing magic is coming up for explanations of weird stuff," Harper went on. "So that way, if you have a spell that goes bad and it draws attention to you, you want to have some sort of excuse ready. So let's practice coming up with creative explanations for weird things!"

Fraser was back in front of the classroom, paging through a book while he waited for those enrolled in the class to find their seats and get settled. Once they did, he started the class.

After his class (where he'd played an awful Simon), Jonas had slipped into the cafeteria to grab some food and do some idle reading. Unfortunately, the book got ignored while Jonas poked at the rather odd looking concoction on his plate. The server had said it was butternut squash casserole but Jonas couldn't help wondering if that was true or not. It just looked so strange.

Jonas nudged the food with a fork, half expecting it to come to life. When it didn't, he felt some relief but still not enough to eat it. For the first time in his life, Jonas actually thought his cooking might be safer than trying something he didn't recognize.

[open, of course! i had squash on the brain]

Drake had an evil-looking raven perched on his shoulder during the lecture today. No, not Raven. A raven. If it were an evil-looking Raven, that would be awkward, in more ways than one.

"All right, we're going to do something a little different today," Drake said, "and give you cynics a chance to rewrite a classic love story, or you romantics to make it actually be romantic. I'm sure most of you know the story of Sleeping Beauty, most likely the Disney version." He snapped his fingers to conjure his projector to play the clips as he talked.

"So, once upon a time, newborn princess Aurora is having her christening. Her parents invited the local fairies, but failed to include Maleficent, because with a name like that, they figured she'd be a downer. So Malefie is pissed and curses the princess so that she will die on her sixteenth birthday after pricking her finger on a spinning wheel, because I guess she figured death by splinter would be pretty painful. One of the other fairies is able to soften the curse to just 'fall asleep' until awaken by the kiss of her true love, but they can't stop it from coming true. Prince Phillip, meanwhile, had met Aurora in the woods and got the major hots for her, so he's off to slay the dragon Malefie turns herself into and gives Aurora a smooch to wake her up. And they live happily ever after. I know, I know, they knew each other for all of ten minutes and it's True Love? Not very realistic. So that's where you come in.

"How would you rewrite this story?" Drake finished. "Go wild, change anything you want, but keep at least some aspect of it so that you can recognize the source material." He fully expected someone to pull an Ann Rice and make it porn. And if Dan didn't somehow involve Lady Gaga, he'd be so disappointed.
