"Well," Max began without preamble. "This past week has certainly been interesting."

Apparently Max was pretty good with understatement. "And while I'm not exactly looking forward to a repeat anytime soon, recent events do present us with an interesting opportunity." Max paused to survey his students thoughtfully. "It turns out that you can learn a lot about the people you know, and about yourself, in stressful situations. We've spent this semester discussing ways to deal with difficult women, and some of you have been, to various degrees, dubious of the usefulness of such skills."

"It is possible that during this week, you've changed your mind. Perhaps you had to deal with a difficult woman out there in the fog. Or perhaps one helped you out and you've begun to realize why simple avoidance is a poor choice when it comes to dealing with them. It is, of course, possible that your stance on things hasn't changed at all, of course, but certainly some of you have had to rethink some of your positions."

"So today we're going to share those stories." He cocked his head slightly to one side as he eyed his students. "And don't think that just because you haven't changed your opinions that you get to avoid sharing. If you didn't learn anything particularly new during the week, then you'll need to talk about what you did and speculate about what the impact that adding a difficult woman to the situation might have had for you."

Library -- Tuesday

The crisis was averted, things were settling down, and the library was empty. Again. Funny how most of the students didn't care about the treasures found in books unless their lives were in danger.

Still, Anemone was about, mopping up and making sure the shelves were in the right order after the influx of people. She was going to need to have another lecture with the 300s, and she was rather sure the Sentient Dust Bunnies were plotting something, but all-in-all, it was just another day at Fandom High.

"Welcome to Act Three," Cindy said from the edge of her desk, just after the bell finished ringing. "We're closing in towards the end of the heroic journeys--just like we're closing in on the end of the semester. We've got three more classes and then the final, so if you haven't started on it yet, you really ought to. Long television series is long."

Brief internet witticism aside, Cindy was ready to be all business. "So, in this Act, we find out if the hero lives or dies, succeeds or fails. Which is fairly interesting because when we last discussed our heroes, one was dead and the other was facing trials. Don't worry about the dead thing; with most heroes, they get better."

Apparently, Cindy thought she was funny this morning. )

"Good to see you're all mostly in one piece," Alysha said, surveying the class as they came in. "And hopefully mentally unharmed."

"I'm not going to make you think too much today. You don't need to solve the dilemmas of the universe - whichever one you want or answer a whole bunch of my questions. Instead I want each of you to consider what we've talked about in class so far this semester."

She gave it a few moments, glancing around to see if people were following. "So, give it a few, and come up with a question that's either come up this semester and hasn't been addressed fully or one that you'd like to talk about but hasn't come up yet. Feel free to discuss 'em today or I'll take them into account over the next month of classes."

"Professor Lupin is feeling a bit under the weather and will not be joining us today," Sirius said as he entered the classroom.

Which was probably just as well, as this week's lesson was far from Remus's favorite.

"We are going to start today with a children's game--Simon Says." Sirius gave brief instructions on how the game was played, then assigned a Simon based on the first person to sign into the class thread. "Don't forget to say 'Simon says'."

After a bit of time had passed, Sirius stopped the game.

"It's fun to be Simon, to be the one who has absolute control over others' movements. It has crossed everyone's mind at some point or another how much more convenient it would be if everyone would just follow what you wanted all the time." His smile held no humor at all. "And with most magical societies, someone has always figured out the trick to that. In the wizarding world I'm familiar with, using such a spell--called the Imperius Curse--carries a lifetime sentence in the wizarding prison of Azkaban. It's one of the three Unforgivable Curses. The other two are along similar lines of darkness--Crucius causes incredible pain, and the final one is known as the Killing Curse. There is only one person in the entire world who has lived through that curse being used against him." He leaned back against his desk. "Do you think these three curses should be considered unforgivable? Should spells that do other things also be added?"
