Magic for Dummies | Period 1 | Class Twelve
Some students bring apples for the teacher, but today, Harper had taken things one step further. She was giving today's lesson and had dressed up for the occasion. That meant the red dress made from an apple-print fabric, with the little dangling apple earrings, the plastic apple necklace, and of course her little bouquet of candy apples.
"Miss Matthews thought it would be a good idea for me to start our discussion today on how to keep magic on the down low," Harper began as she twirled one of her apples. After all, there was no one better to talk about remaining inconspicuous than her.
"While everyone here in Fandom is pretty cool with magic, that might not be true elsewhere," said Harper. "Since I come from a place that doesn't have magic, I thought I could give you some good tips. First of all, if you're doing anything with magic, don't do it in public where everyone can see you. You know what would be really great for hiding all your magic stuff? A secret room!" Maybe like the wizard lair magically hidden inside a freezer, the one that Harper knew nothing about.
"Another thing you might have to become good at when practicing magic is coming up for explanations of weird stuff," Harper went on. "So that way, if you have a spell that goes bad and it draws attention to you, you want to have some sort of excuse ready. So let's practice coming up with creative explanations for weird things!"

* a gremlin just crawled out of your suitcase
* it's the middle of July, it's indoors, and it's snowing
* your friend's head seems to be growing larger
* people suddenly feel compelled to tell the truth about everything
* the boy who just fell into the dunk tank turned into a disassembled mannequin
