"Just go with it" had become quite the mantra for Gabrielle while she'd been home, and after using it for almost a month to deal with the case of 'my best friend looks like her mortal enemy,' it was almost ridiculously easy to apply the same mantra to 'oh, look, I've only been gone a week.'

So that was nice, and added a bit of cheer to Gabrielle's tuneless whistling as she went about her duties. (After the coffee was done, said tuneless whistling got more frenetic on top of being more cheerful.) Any lulls in the day would be spent looking up information on Sisyphus, just to get a head start on him if he tried to escape from Tartarus again -- which was just going to leave her scratching her head. She couldn't even find a single reference to this first escape.

Hmm.

Can it be that a white horse is not a horse?

Tyler still looked like crap as the students filed in today. Red nose, wastebasket full of snotty tissues at his side, the whole bit.

"Hi," he said wanly. "Hope you aren't all still hung over from the Bahamas. Your midterm is due today, so I assume you're all ready to hand in your papers and talk about one of the philosophers discussed in class. If you aren't, make something up fast."

"If you want to grade grub, the extra credit question is to analyze when a white horse is not a white horse." He looked into the scrum of students. "You," he said. "Present your paper first."

Ghanima was not wearing her normal formal Imperial clothing today. Instead of her usual elaborate gown and hat, she was dressed in her Fremen robes, hair pulled back into a simple ponytail. The classroom was also transformed, with large pillows taking the place of desks and chairs, and there was another woman seated beside her.

Today, we're going to discuss what happens when myth becomes reality )

Ben stood a little uncomfortably in front of the flight simulator. "Hey, everyone. Sorry for the delay getting the club started. I kind of had to head out on a mission...thing...a few weeks ago. Anyway, welcome to Flight Club, where we'll do the introduction thing to figure out where everyone's expertise lies. I'm Ben, I've been flying pretty much anything my parents would let me from the time I could see over the control panels."

"And I was a little busy," Tahiri added, looking sheepish. "I'm Tahiri, and I haven't been flying nearly as long as Ben has, but I've gotten a good bit of it in the past couple of years." She was being nice and not mentioning how. "Anyway, since we know all of you probably come from different worlds and all, we've got a couple of different options for you: space flight, if you think you're up to it, or something a little easier with the landspeeder scenario."

Why did she have the weirdest urge to steal a landspeeder?

Ben had no idea, but he wasn't going to let him near his red one at home, just in case. "And our advisor is Master Skywalker," he said, pointing, "who's here mostly to make sure you don't break his flight sim, so please be careful, okay?" He gave a brief run-through of how the controls on the landspeeder worked. "And the space flight option is in a light freighter, which is kind of like the family sedan back home." Only much bigger, of course.

Hey. Tahiri wasn't going to steal his speeder, okay? She did take a turn to go over the freighter's controls, and she was trying not to talk too quickly, but it was habit, so -- "If you need any extra help, feel free to ask either of us. Oh, and don't feel bad if you crash out a few times. Some of us," she said, grinning wryly, "have done that more times than we want to admit. That's why it's a sim."

"Better to be fake space dust than real space dust," Ben said with a nod. "Anyway, have fun! That's kind of the point of this."

The first thing their classmates would n(most likely) notice was that Mitchell was nowhere to be seen. Instead, Chloe and Alex were in the front of the room, ready to use their TA powers for evil good.

"Mitchell couldn't make it today. He's dealing with some family obligations back home but he should be back with us next Monday," Alex stated. "So, it's up to us," she smiled and glanced at Chloe, "to keep things going until Mitchell returns."

"Since we were just on a nice Spring Break that seemed too short for some, we figured we'd be nice and make it a movie day," Chloe explained.

"However, in keeping with the theme of the class, we had to make it topical. Therefore, you guys get to see Enemy Mine 2 : Electric Boogaloo. That is what THIS site called it."

"Feel free to just sit back and enjoy," Alex added, and promptly started the movie.

As Summer set out snacks and drinks -- a tropical theme since she was still in a Bahamas kind of mood -- she was in awe that it was March already. It was crazy how fast time could pass.

She helped herself to some juice, passing on the coffee for once, and settled in with her laptop. She had some pictures to send people. And might have been trying to figure out when she could get back to Atlantis.

The class had gotten an email telling them class was in the Danger Shop today. What greeted them there was a snow-covered landscape with no small number of trees and bushes breaking up the scenery, and a cheerful Bond. This boded no good.

"Good morning," Bond greeted them, still grinning. "I trust you're all rested, and ready to take your midterm. We'll be doing a variation on the biathlon. For those of you who missed the recent Olympics, this involves a combination of two events I'm quite fond of, which are cross-country skiing and target shooting." Well, that explained the grin. Yup.

He gestured across the snow. "I've marked a course through the forest here, and there are five targets set up at various intervals along the track. Your task will be to ski the course and to shoot each of the targets. They'll be quite obvious when you get to them. Simple really."

"So kit up, then we'll have a quarter of an hour of getting familiar with your skis before we'll start sending you though the course."

"Welcome back," a very tanned Anakin said from the front of the classroom. "Today we talk about wrath," he said. "There's something very human about giving in to our temper," he said. "It's freeing, uncomplicated."

He paused. "At least at that moment. The repercussions are always waiting."

He waved a hand and the holoprojector flipped to life. The blue alien from two weeks ago . "Remember him? As a Padawan who wasn't prone to following the instructions of my master," his eyes met each student who had also made that choice, "I was captured aboard Krayn's ship, enslaved, and set to work in his spice refining plants on Nar Shaddaa. My master escaped, and I didn't see him for almost a month. The intervening time was not pleasant."

He looked around the classroom making eye contact with every student before continuing. "Wrath is very, very tempting. It urges you to listen to that dark little voice inside of you--to cut loose, live without consequences."

He pointed at the holo again. "There are always consequences. At the end of this story, I faced Krayn in combat, ignored the advice of my master again," which would be a theme in Anakin's stories, yes, "and stabbed Krayn through the chest with my lightsaber. I was thirteen. That decision shaped much of my training as a Jedi from then on."

Anakin stopped pacing. "What would it take for you to get to that hazy edge? And more importantly, how do you stop yourself from giving in?"
