The handwavy email that went out asked the class to meet in the Danger Shop.  When the students arrived and filed in, they found Alysha scowling at the controls and really, really wishing she'd brought more coffee.  It was the Danger Shop that apparently needed coffee.

"You all look tan," Alysha commented, smiling at the group once they were all there.  "Except for the ones of you who don't in which case, good on you for not damaging your skin."

She turned back to the Danger Shop controls and keyed in the entry code.  The Danger Shop morphed around them until the students were all standing on the top of what looked like a very high cliff.  Also on the cliff and possibly looking like they might be considering jumping off were a bunch of - ponies.

Red and white ponies to be clear.  With a red maple leaf on each of their butts.  Apparently the Danger Shop had taken that humming of O Canada under Alysha's breath as she came in seriously.  (But really, after an ending like that to the Olympics, what was she supposed to be humming?)

She frowned at the ponies but shrugged, turning back to the class.  "We're putting what we've talked about into action today.  Today a total stranger - a pony is going to jump off this cliff.  It's your job to stop him using any means you consider ethical."  Alysha looked around, making sure everyone was following.  "We've talked about a lot of different scenarios so far this class, and a lot of you seem pretty confident that you know what to do in a given situation so - let's do it.  You can find a partner or you can work alone on this.  The ponies will jump in 4 minutes so you have some time to discuss what you want to do.  You can act while they're still on the cliff or while they're in the air.  The one thing I'm going to ask is treat the ponies like they're sentient creatures, like they're humans.  I don't want to see anyone putting a halter around the pony's head and trying to lead it away because I'm pretty damn sure you're not doing that to another person."

Alysha glanced around.  "Any questions?  Then pair up and go for it."

Max looked mighty relaxed as he arrived at class. Apparently the week off had been relaxing. Speaking of...

"I hope each of you enjoyed your week off," he said as he looked around. "Which means that it's been two weeks since we last met, and that you've hopefully been in some new places during that time. Normally we'd jump right back into things here without some sort of 'easy' class, but I'm actually curious enough that today we're actually just going to have a simple discussion."

"During the past week many of you probably traveled, you met new people, or you at least saw people you know in new situations. Some of those people were inevitably difficult women." Or, you know, just difficult. "Now, it is my hope that the things you learn in this class are applicable in your day to day lives, so today we're simply going to discuss some of the situations we found ourselves in since we last met." Max grinned suddenly, "And you're free to talk about someone you 'just met over the break' if you want to keep yourself safe from someone who actually knows you."

After a second to look around, Max pointed someone out at random. "You're up. But don't worry, everyone's going to get a turn."

When Anemone came into the library today, she was wearing a hat. Gulliver had one too, albeit a smaller version, and she had brought some rather colorful cakes with her to work. She'd handwavily stayed up most of the night working on them, and was pleased with her creations.

She was currently working on a sign to go next to the treats; 'Want cake? You'll need to ask nicely in anapestic tetrameter.'

The Fandom High library was open, and the library aide was hosting her own little party.

Cindy was both hungover and tired this morning, but that wasn't going to stop her from having class. Armed only with a cup of strong, black coffee, Cindy was going to face down this hangover and teach class, dammit. She wouldn't be much good as a spy if she let feeling a little (okay, a lot) under the weather get in the way of her cover.

Which probably showed just how new she was to Fandom, as being hungover and exhausted were considered perfectly acceptable reasons to let the TAs take over or even just a movie day.

Instead, Cindy was in front of the class, perhaps a little heavier on the eye makeup than normal, but otherwise acting normal. Just ignore the occasional squinting at the light and slight glare anytime someone spoke especially loud. )

"First of all," Alex said, "I'd like to thank you all for your reasoned and articulate responses to the midterm exams. You argued your points well, and I was particularly impressed by some of the compelling arguments many of you came up with. The case studies were actual cases that I was involved with; if you're curious as to the end result of either, see me after class. Secondly, I hope you enjoyed your week off, because we're diving right back in."
