This time around, programming the Danger Shop had been...well, marginally less difficult, though hardly simple. It was a lucky thing that the students arrived when they did, because had they been five minutes earlier, they might have been treated to hearing some rather colorful language from both their professors.

In any case, it was now a dark, moldering parlor, filled with furniture that had once been ostentatious and was now starting to decay after several decades of disuse.

"Hello!" Remus called, falsely bright because the room...was not so much. "Not every object you encounter is going to present themselves and yell 'Look at me, I do evil things for fun!' Sometimes -- like the boggart -- dark objects and creatures choose to hide in the most ordinary of places. In your media, there's a common enough trope of a 'book of evil' or some such, which when read will place a curse upon all present. These sorts of things are not just stories in many places, though."

Sirius was looking deeply unhappy as he looked around. Ahh, home. How he hadn't missed it. "At home, we have an entire section of our government devoted to bewitched and misused objects." He moved his arms to encompass the room. "Or, as I call them, beloved family heirlooms." The sarcasm was sharp enough to etch something. "On these sheets of parchment," he waved his wand to disperse them, "are the cursed objects in this room you are looking for."

"Gloves are not remotely optional today, unless you aren't particularly attached to your skin," Remus added a bit grimly. "Let us know if you need any help. We're both rather familiar with this place."

Once again, the Valentine's Day candy was out for the students who came to study hall, but it was all positioned out of Ziva's sight, where she wouldn't be tempted by it or reminded of the holiday. She was back to studying for her citizenship test today, and was focusing on law over history. It wasn't that she found history boring, but...well, yes, she did.

Sam was more than a little energetic in the library today, and he hadn't even had any coffee this morning. With no further news on Peter, he was starting to worry that Isabel had been tricked in her dreamwalking, that Peter really wasn't alive out there somewhere, and in order to keep his mind off of that train of thought, he threw himself into work. He cleaned the main desk, put returned books back in their proper places, rearranged a set of shelves, cleaned the main desk again, and worked on memorizing his lines from the play. It wasn't enough to stay constantly distracted, but Sam was getting as close as he could.

Drake had on extremely tight leather pants for today's class. They were so tight you could tell what religion he was, if demons had religion. When the class had settled in, he snapped his fingers to start some clips rolling.

"Today we're going to talk about the Power of Luuuuuuuuurve," Drake began. "In the movie Krull, the evil Beast with a capital B and his equally evil army invade the planet Krull. Two rival kingdoms decided to form an alliance by marrying their children in the hopes that their combined forces can defeat the Beast. Fortunately, Prince Colwyn and Princess Lyssa seem down with idea, which is good because arranged marriages can be so awkward. Anyway, during the wedding ceremony, the Beast attacks, kills lots of people, and kidnaps Lyssa.

"Of course, Colywn wasn't going to stand for that, so he gathers up the usual band of misfits and hunts down the Beast. There's fighting and people dying and Colwyn finds Lyssa. He fights the Beast but isn't having much luck. Xena would totally do a better job with that Glaive. Lyssa comes to the realization that the power of their Luuuuuuuuurve can destroy the Beast, and she starts to finish the interrupted marriage ceremony. So they say their vows and Colwyn destroys the Beast and they all escape the Beast's fortress and live happily ever after."

"So what do you think?" Drake finished. "Can love defeat evil? Or is that just a fantasy?"

Nick did not really follow the radio much. That was why, say, if someone had caught last weeks broadcast and picked up on something, or, say, had a few questions, Nick might blink and move the topic along.

That said, they had work to do today.

"We're going to take a step back instead of forward today and deal with Ancient Babylon. Babylon is the step between some of the Greek concepts and their Egyptian forefathers. Read more... )
