"Good afternoon, class. Congratulations to those members of the class who made the Homecoming Court," Bond began as the class seated themselves. "However I would like to remind you that Fandom does not practice droit de seigneur, just in case any of you were getting ideas." He only mocked out of pride.

Cut for sex-talk. Links are NWS. )

"In case you haven't noticed," Aeryn greeted the class after the bell had rung, "October tends to be a pretty busy month here. There's Parents Weekend, homecoming, and now we move onto Halloween. This is a holiday that people celebrate everywhere here, though I can't tell you why. At the end of the year, everyone gets obsessed with being scared, down to the movies on TV, though I find they're less scary and more about gore which means they probably even get that part wrong. Vampires, werewolves, ghosts, all of these things are suddenly all over like it's going to scare you. Not that there is anything wrong with being any of these things," she added quickly.

"As most of you know, Halloween is this weekend and we thought we would take a break and discuss the early 21st century's attitude on costuming for the holiday," Jim said, relaxed as could be with the topic. "Right, Nathan?"

Algren's reply was something not unlike a groan. He was fairly certain that he already had some vague notion as to where this was leading. And yet, still he soldiered bravely onward.

[OCD is finally up, and the links to those costumes may or may not be mildly not worksafe. Nothing like that Japanese woodcut with the octopus!]

"Welcome back, class," Colette said. "It is a bit late for a midterm, but I will give one anyhow, and hope you will indulge me." They had better - this was for a grade.

"Ideally, as a chef, you will have full access to the best of everything! But sometimes you cannot. Some people love animals and do not eat them. Some people cannot physically tolerate wheat, or nuts, or dairy. Some people diet and will say, 'oh no, no fat, none for me!' even in a French restaurasnt." She sounded a little contemptuous of these people. "And then there are some people with religious limitations on what they can and cannot eat."

She spent some time explaining vegetarian, gluten-free, Kosher and low-fat cooking, then reached for a sheet of paper on her desk. "This week, I would like for you to get into teams and plan a meal -- a main dish, side dish, and dessert or appetizer -- that will follow the dietary restrictions of the group you are assigned to. You do not need to cook anything, though you can if you would like, bien sur."

"Emma, Sam, and Kyle, you are cooking for vegetarians. Sookie, George and Jean, you are the gluten-free group. Joan, Liir, Helen, you must plan a Kosher meal -- dairy or meat. Chuck, Kate and Priestly, that leaves you to cook low-fat. Give me your meal plans before the end of class."

"Begin. You have cookbooks that you can use for ideas, and I am here if you need help."

"The second World War," Mitchell began, sitting on top of a sofa in his classroom with his fingers knotted together, "Was a little more obvious in how it spawned, I think." He took a breath. "Getting everyone in the country together was nice and all, but imperial bastards like Hitler never stop at something like that. He was obsessed with this idea that the Jews and 'lesser races'," you could hear the airquotes, "Were responsible for all that had gone wrong in the world. If they just let the Aryans, blue-eyed blonde-haired pale types, rule everything as the master race, everything would be fine."Ah, sarcasm. )

Someone had added more Halloween decorations! Anemone was, quite possibly, filled to the brim with glee about this.

She set out a bowl full of candy on the front desk before getting to work; measuring the door to Special Collections, and then taping together some butcher-paper to the proper size and getting out her paints.

Abandon hope, all ye who enter here in her best calligraphy at the center, with creatures from her illustrated copies of the Divina Commedia and Paradise Lost dancing about the paper. Once it dried, she'd tape it to the door, and then start on one for Dr. Jones' office, and maybe some for the entrance to the library if she had time.

The library was open, but anyone actually wanting help was going to get pressed into service and handed some paints.

[The OCD is ded-of-brainz, and I'm AFK after 4CST. Mod thy library.]

Today, the Danger Shop was set up like the outside of a dance club.

"Bouncing is another great job for when you like to hit people," Fred said. "Basically, you do one thing, two ways. You're supposed to keep the unwanted people out. That means stopping them before they get in... or throwing them out if they got in already. That's... pretty much it. It's a pretty fun job. I did some, once."

He pointed at the students, halfway between them all. "To the right, you're bouncers to start. On the left... you're the undesirables. Your job is to either get in the club, or keep the others out. And... go to it!"

Yes, he realized he pretty much just asked his students to just start brawling. He was not exactly Mr. Responsible Teacher.

[ooc: OCD first, plz Open!]
