Jono was... tired, when he came into the library today, yes. He was going to blame it on the changing seasons, if anyone asked.

In actuality, he was tired because he'd found a set of headphones and he was up all hours last night listening to the newest Pearl Jam album. Yes, he was still trying to figure out what to make of it.

Which meant that he was going to spend most of today trying to figure out if a few encyclopedias would make a better pillow, or if he'd have better luck reaching for some paperbacks.

[The OCD has fled today, as have I, to work. I'll grab any pings in the evening, though.]

"Practically, engineering is in the business of providing solutions to problems. To make the world - however defined - a better place, or at least attempt to do so. But before considering the practicalities of a solution you need to know exactly what's wrong in the first place." Mohinder launched a short diversion on the definition of human needs.

Starting to pass out notes Mohinder continued. "Once you have a defined need - the time comes to create ideas and evaluate the possible solutions. It's unlikely to hit the best possible solution to start with, and so begins a cycle of experimentation and improvement until a final answer is found."

"Now I'd like you to conider how to practically apply the design process."

Hoshi figured it couldn't hurt to have a little bribery to get people excited about a newspaper meeting on the Friday afternoon before fall break, so she brought candy and hot apple cider.

"Thanks for showing up, guys. I know things have been a little messy right now, with Cal leaving and Joan and I trying to figure out what we're doing," said Hoshi. "But it was so exciting to see the finished paper! Now we just have to keep up the good work. So we have two things to discuss today. First, what are we doing for the next paper? And second, do we still want to put out the paper next week during fall break? Let's hear your suggestions."

[The OCD demands that you wait has been satisfied!]
