doubleohblonde: (* Lord Flashheart)

Class was in the Dangershop, but unlike usual, Bond was not.

This state of affairs lasted long enough that any prudent-minded student would likely count it a win and leave early. However, just before any could, there came an almighty explosion from the vicinity of the doorway, and there appeared a vision in white, with an impeccably curled blonde wig, pants he'd quite possibly been poured into, and a ruff that most men would kill for. Striking a pose, Bond (for it was he), proclaimed "It is I, Lord Flashheart. Huzzah!" He paused and tossed his cape back over his shoulder, obviously expecting the class to answer with a huzzah of their own. "Flash by name, flash by nature. And I'm not talking about speed. Woof!" This last was accompanied by a hip-thrust.

Someone was going to be searching for his dignity at the bottom of a glass come this evening.

'Lord Flashheart' stalked dramatically over to the front of the class proper. "To get those young fillies and squires where you want them you need to be confident, sure, devilishly sexy, and just plain awesome." Much like his greeting, this was also proclaimed, and accompanied by the odd random hip-thrust. "In short, you need to be me."

"And impossible as it may seem to approach even a morsel of my awesomeness, it can be done. But there is only one way to do it, you must..." He paused. Dramatically. And posed. Also dramatically. "Act like me. Starting now. You must speak like me, walk like me, make entrances like like me, and take what you want, like me."

"Huzzah!"

[ooc: wait for ocd is up. huzzah!]

Algren had left a handwavey note for his class to meet him out my the main campfire again. No particular reason, really. He just liked the fresh air. And possibly watching kids suffer in cloudy, sometimes soggy weather.

"In the last few classes," he said, pulling up a stump and having a seat, "we've covered the stages of culture shock, and we've discussed how they pertain to life here on Fandom Island. Today, we're going to focus less on the 'shock,' and more on the 'Fandom,' because you never know when it's going to strike."

He nodded down to a bowl he had placed nearby.

"In this bowl, there are some scraps of paper. On those scraps are written a few different afflictions that this place might hit you with at some point during your stay here. Pull out one, read it, keep it a secret. And then mingle with the rest of your class, acting out your unfortunate symptom. As your classmates guess what the matter is, you'll find yourself transformed back to normal. When that happens, take a cookie and get out of my hair."

Yes, he'd stopped by J,GoB on his way to work today and picked up some moddable cookies. Just so that he could excuse chasing the wee children away early. It was a lazy sort of day.

The class met today in the Danger Shop, so Tim could set the proper mood.

Upon entering, the kids would find themselves in a dark, moonless night. Crickets, owls, and frogs could be heard softly in the trees, as they made their way down a short, narrow path. The trees were dense, and it was impossible to see more than a few feet into them.

But soon enough they would find the clearing with the cabins, and a big roaring fire with all the usual things for toasting.

"Ghost stories..." Tim began once everyone had arrived. "The name is a bit misleading because not all, in fact I think comparatively few scary stories are actually about ghosts. But mankind has always had a kind of dread fascination, with fear. With scaring themselves, and their friends. Filling the darkness around them, with all sorts of things that want to do us harm."

As he spoke, one might notice, that the sounds of the night around them, were fading.

"These days most stories are told without any pretense of them being true. People are so 'rational' and cynical today that they find it hard to believe in strange things. But then most people have never been to Fandom. So who knows?"

He rose, then, holding a long, gnarled walking stick.

"Today's class is rather specific," she had to admit as her students filed in, "but something I've found extremely useful in my time. It is also something that almost anyone with magical ability can use as well as something that is allowed by rule of law even in my own world."

That last part was for Jack if he was here.

She held up a string.

"Knot magic. One of the most common bits of thaumaturgy you're likely to find, one of the simplest to perform, and one of the most powerful. There's something psychologically satisfying to tying a knot... or untying a knot, as the case may be, which is why this form of magic shows up in any number of cultures over the years. Your supplies are simple enough and the uses are varied, though the effect can be subtle. Subtle, however, is not always a bad thing."

She passed out a page on the history of knot magic for them to read later, as well as a few more handouts on the basis of knot magic, and some basic workings with knot magick.

"They can also be prepared ahead of time, worn on your person unobtrusively, and if disguised cleverly, given to someone without their knowledge of it's power. While this is ethically dubious in some cases, I believe we're all familiar with the fact that life doesn't care much for politeness at times."

She leaned back.

"Today, I'd like you to take some of the provided moddable string and rope and work on the spells that might be the most useful to you. Work alone, together, discuss thoughts with the basic theory: whatever you like. I'll be here if you have any questions."

After getting SHOT AT WHAT THE HELL in fashion class, Claudia was ready for a nice long nap in the library today.

Or at least a day staring aimlessly at the pretty people in OK magazine.

The library was open!
