Anakin was almost smiling today as the class met in the Danger Shop. Creepy.

"Today we're going to continue with land-based transportation," he said quietly, pointing to two motorcycle-esque machines hovering on either side him. "This is a swoop bike," he said, pointing to one, "and the one on the left is a speeder bike, the slightly newer model, which is also equipped with a laser cannon. Don't use the laser cannon, please. Both fly like the motorcycles of your world drive, but can get up to 400 kilometers an hour. That being said, you will be wearing helmets and there are two different scenarios based on your level of skill. One is a city planet with very tall buildings to miss. The second is a forest moon with trees hundreds of meters tall."

He gave the class a tight smile. "Please don't hit a tree or a building and explode. There will be mocking. If you do it intentionally, there will be detention."

He clapped his hands. "Begin."

Today in addition to the towels sitting around the beach, there were tons of plastic shovels, buckets and other moddable sandcastle making type of things. It wouldn't be hard to guess what they were doing today.

"A nice thing to do in between swimming time at the beach is play in the sand. And, no, I don't mean throwing sand at people. Not only is it mean but it naturally provokes retaliation and by the end of it everybody's got sand up their ass and absolutely nobody wants that. Unless you're a really, really sick person," he said. Marshall guessed he could probably find some sand porn on the internet. "I was thinking more of the sand castle variety."

"I can't really teach you how to build a sandcastle because it's one of those things where it's all about your creativity and there's no wrong answer. Unlike some other activities. Like basketball," Marshall said. He coughed. "I can offer you some tips. Make sure the sand is wet but not too wet. Dry and soaking wet sand will get you nowhere. Don't be afraid of sand crabs even if they do feel gross, decorate with seashells and, for the love of god, make sure you take high and low tide into account before building. There's nothing worse than having a completely bitching sandcastle destroyed before anybody can see it."

"So I got you guys all sorts of stuff for making sandcastles. I want you guys to make a sandcastle of your own and then after feel free to do whatever you want," Marshall said. He was easy like that. "If you bury someone else in the sand please dig them out before class is over."

Marshall already felt bad about the sand that's going to be in some very uncomfortable places for some people.

"Good morning, everyone," Veronica said once her students had arrived. "Today we're going to start digging in to the actual test. There are three components of the SAT: critical reading, mathmatics and writing. We'll discuss tips and tricks for all three sections, but today we're going to start with the critical reading section."

She passed out a hand out. "The critical reading section is seventy minutes of the test and is designed to test your vocabulary and reading comprehension. Today we're going to focus on the vocabulary section. There are computers set up along the back and I want you to spend some time playing a vocabulary game."

There were still too many people about for Anemone's peace of mind, even if some of them seemed somewhat-nice. So it was a welcome relief to escape into the library for her shift, where she could be reasonably sure of some peace and quiet.

She quickly set about shelving the books, keeping a wary eye on the 400s, least the Spaniards try to take up their Inquisition again.

The Fandom High Library was open. Mind the dictionaries.

"Good morning," Brennan greeted the class once everyone seemed to be in a seat. "Today we're talking about the role physical attraction plays in sexual selection. You'll often hear that everyone has his own taste, but, in fact, there are certain signifiers that are universal across most cultures."

Cut because Brennan is talky meat. )

Mohinder was standing at the front of the classroom, as he passed out a few handouts.

"Alright," he started. "One of the first points to winning your arguments is to make sure your opponent has the same frame of reference you do. If your company is 50 billion in debt you need to know if that's a million million or thousand million Australian, Canadian or American. Language and meaning change over time, distance and even how a sentence is put together can lead to it being misinterpreted."

"This can be exploited in argument or lying by telling the truth, or at least a precisely defined honesty and is invaluable in programming a computer that's smart enough to understand what you told it but not to know what you meant. Now, I want you try these handouts while talking with each other - see what impression you can make without actually saying anything false."

Gibbs had left word for the entire class to meet him at the Main Campfire for today's class, rain or shine, however Gibbs was no where to be seen.

A few minutes later Gibbs was shouting at everyone to get their gear... )
