Once everyone was seated, Edward addressed the class. "I know that some questions you have may be difficult to ask in person. For that reason, we now have a question box." He gestured at a wooden suggestion box sitting on a side table. "If you have a question, drop it in there and I will address it during the next class. And no, you do not have to sign your name. Also, Chuck, I'd like to talk to you after class."

"Today we are discussing Gender, Identity and Sexuality," Edward said. "We will be spending the majority of this semester learning about healthy behavior, but it is important we discuss abnormalities so you can recognize them when you see them." He discussed sex chromosomal abnormalities and then launched into a lecture about homosexuality, including what causes it and ways it can be cured. He also explained how dangerous homosexuality can be, and how friends and loved ones must be encouraged to choose heterosexuality for their own safety.

"For today's discussion, let's talk about choice. Write down at least three things that you choose to be and at least three things that you are and cannot be changed. Then share these with your group. Do you agree with everyone's list?"

"For example, Kevin has blond hair. Would you say that Kevin is blond or that he chooses to be blond?"

Today was in the Danger shop as so very handwavily planned. Because today... there was SCIENCE. Reed Richards, Tony Stark and Hank Pym's bastard lovechild kind of science.

No, that didn't mean there was a clone of a god running about. That would just be silly.

"We are going to learn the very delicate art of boiling water today," Deadpool informed the class when they had all filed in. "Now, I know this can be done wrong many ways, but I think in this safe environment we can do this. Just think of me as the Jaime Escalante to your East L.A. tough street kids with hearts of gold."

A beat.

"Without any cheating involved."

Shaking his head, Deadpool soldiered on. "Now! We have two options for you kooky kids. You can either watch a movie for instructions--" He waved toward the faaaancy 'AV department which he wasn't actually sure the school had, so it might have just been stolen' television. "--Or you can just go to town and figure it out on your own. Like brave little pioneers. Just no dying of cholera along the way, that'll just get me in trouble and we really don't need that."

Because preventing cholera was a job bestowed upon him as a teacher. True story.

"Now break into teams of two and go to town!"

Inside the classroom it was sunny with 33% cloud cover, with a cool north-easterly breeze of only a few kilometers an hour running off a incipient cold front. The pressure had risen a few bars and the humidity dropped a little by the time class assembled.

"Meteorology," said Mohinder, "The study of atmospheric conditions with the purpose of engaging in forecasting future weather conditions. An impractical ideal perhaps, but with enough accuracy to avoid denying a hurricane. The chaotic nature of our multi-particulate atmosphere and oceanic system gives us an inherent uncertainty in weather forecasting," he went on, describing ensemble forecasting and numerical prediction.

"Despite the computing power needed for this analysis, meteorology is still dependent on observation from thousands of weather stations," said Mohinder, gesturing at the rain gauges, barometers, therometers and other equipment, each grouped around a desk. "There are handouts if you need more details of the equipment. And of course, plenty of weather to observe," he finished. Mohinder pushed the silver button centred in one of the desks and a dark, crackling cloud formed high above it.

Altra was alert as they arrived this morning, checking for any kittens that might still be lurking about the place.

Satisfied the library was kitten free, he led the way inside so Karal could get everything ready before he dashed off to class.

Today the Danger Shop was set up to look like a shooting range, and the students were directed to collect the appropriate safety gear as they entered. Once all the students had gathered, Bond began.

Afternoon, class... )

"You're in charge, congratulations," Nathan said. "Now what? Implicit in being a leader is that you have somewhere that you want to go. You have a vision, a goal, and that's what you're leading everyone towards.

"Successful leaders have a solid vision. They know what they want, which helps them figure out how to get it. It also helps you stay on course. If your goal is to see a movie tonight, you know that heading to the beach is not going to help you accomplish that.
