The home ec classroom looked more like an art class today, with home decorating catalogs strewn about and a stash of shoeboxes on one table with felt, paper, fake flowers, wallpaper and carpet samples, scissors, paint, modeling clay and other moddable supplies in abundance.

"Morning," Tyler said, once the students were mostly assembled. He had a large travel mug of coffee in one hand. "Today is our class on decorating, or, how to make whatever dump you're holed up in feel a little less like a dump."

He hesitated before talking again. "You don't have to do any of this. You are not your Pottery Barn rug or your clever coffee table shaped like a yin-yang. Stuff gets oppressive ... you do not want a life defined by stuff."

"But," he added, a smile dancing somewhere around his eyes, "I've been told I'm an extremist on this. And on the theory some of you might someday want more than a futon and a coffee maker, you're going to spend class today constructing and decorating dioramas of rooms in your future home. It can be a bedroom, a living room, a kitchen if that's where your mind goes. Here are some handouts on low-cost decorating for you to get some ideas."

He gestured to the table of supplies. "There's building stuff and some catalogs for more ideas over there. Go to it. I'm around if you need help."

The library was more like a menagerie, today. Karal was accompanied by a Firecat, a deer, and a kitten.

Altra was necessary, he'd coaxed Evey to come with him so he wouldn't worry about her, and he hadn't wanted to leave Vashti on her own in the cabin.

Suffice it to say, it wasn't going to be quite a normal day in the library today.

The Danger Shop was made up to look like a laboratory, with enough workbenches for each student. "Today," Igor proclaimed, as he led the class into the Danger Room, his lurching gait seeming oddly cheerful as a very mixed up looking dog pranced by his side, "you're going to try your handth at some true Igor handiwork."

"The pieceth you collected latht week have been thorted and cleaned, you'll find them on the metal trayth under the theetht. The trayth have your nameth on them. Today, you'll uthe the itemth in your thatchelth to create a creature from your pieceth."

He grinned crookedly and patted Scraps, who yipped a high pitched yip, then woofed a deep, booming woof, wagging his tail. "Thith ith Thcrapth, my dog. I made him out of pieceth. You might not be ready to create a dog, but I'm thure everyone of you can make thomething. Neat thitcheth and attention to detail and remember, you can't afford to be thqueamith if you're working for a mad thcientith. That way lieth a quick trip off the battlementth.

He waved a hand at them. "Off you go, and you can work in pairth or on your own, but keep in mind that next week, you'll be animating today'th creation."

When the students arrived, they were separated into groups of 3 (and one group of four if raccoon-Kaylee was there) and put into your standard prison cell with bars, a barred window, brick walls, a sink, a toilet and bunk beds. The Doctor locked each cell door and pocketed the key. "Today's topic is 'so you're a prisoner'. It's what usually happens when you fail to keep a low profile, aren't fast enough figuring out that something isn't right and failed at polite conversation. So if you mess up everything this workshop has taught you so far, you'll at least have a chance to try to get out. Not all jails will be this simple, but it's a fairly common set-up, so let's go with it. Go on then. Try to escape. The bars won't react to weapons or temperature changes and can't be ripped out, so you'll have to be creative. I'll be over here if you need me." He took a seat at the end of the corridor.

The class had been handwavily informed to meet in the Danger Shop, however when they got there, they would have found it set up to a simulation of a clearing in a densely overgrown rainforest (although with less humidity), with no sign of Bond other than the two sets of paintballing gear set up at either end of the clearing, and the note ... )
