"I do not believe in final exams," Ghanima said bluntly, skipping over the nicites she usually opened class with.  "I think standardized tests are absurd, and no measure of what you have learned.  That said, I do expect you to show me that you have walked away with something from this class."

"Today, you are putting Helen of Sparta on trial."  Hopping off the desk, Ghanima began distributing packets to the class.  "I have divided you up into three groups; jury, prosecution, and defense.  You may use anything as evidence, provided you can tie it to the case.  Any myth you may know, things we have talked about, even personal experiences.  So long as you can sway the jury, it's fair game."

"Our groups are as follows," she said clearly.  "For the jury, Mr. Bolton, Mr.Halpert, Miss Katara, Mr. Kessler, Miss Levine, Mr. Park, Mr. Valentine.  Prosecution team; Miss Emmagan, Miss Evans, Miss Namine, Miss Sato, and Miss Summers.  Lastly, on the defense, Mr. Altman, Mr. Anders, Mr. Casablancas, Mr. Guerin, and Mr. Halliwell."

"Jury members, it is your duty to reach a verdict.  There must be a clear majority before a verdict can be reached, so no more than two dissenting votes.  In the case of a hung jury, I will be allowed to cast the deciding vote."

"After all, as we saw when the Furies were denied the death of Orestes, it doesn't matter if you're right or wrong, it's whether or not the bigger gods are on your side.  So start praying, and begin."

[Please wait for the (massive) OCD to go up!  Start arguing!  This is not my fault, I blame watching too much L&O.   Miss Levine, as the first juror in, is now the foreman.  ETA2:  Your teacher has been called into work on an emergency, and shall return later this evening.  SP = Love, as always.]

The desks were arranged in a sort of misshapen U around the middle of the room and the chairs were lining the walls. Glitch wasn't at his usual spot behind his desk and was, instead, sitting in a chair off to the side.

On the board, however, were instructions.

Final )

Glitch smiled at them from where he was sitting and took out a small notepad. Forget the naming part, this was going to be his new favorite part of inventiontronics.

[ooc: The OCD is up and waiting for everyone's neat inventions!]

Sam was a little wary as he went to open the library, wondering if there would be anything strange waiting inside for him like last week. Luckily, there was nothing in the library but the books. Ah, books.

"Good morning," Jean-Paul said, "your finals are on your desk. There will be no talking. If you attempt telepathy I will know and smack you. Begin."

Mike Cannon was not in a very good mood. "We're going to make this short and simple today since I have a headache," he said. "One of the best known computer applications is having the computer play chess. When you or I play chess, we have to sit there and think through all the possible moves, analyzing them for the best possible outcome. It takes a while. The computer can do all that work in a fraction of a second, and as a bonus, it doesn't break a sweat. It doesn't get flustered."

He gestured to the computer workstations, all set up to play a chess game. "For your final exam, you're going to try and beat a computer at chess. Anyone who can beat the computer gets an automatic A on the exam. I'll also give an automatic A for the course for the person who can find me a damn cup of coffee that isn't decaf."

"Welcome to your final," Biff said, smiling evilly. "You will be confronted with a series of multiple choice options in this hour. Use what you have learned in this class about major world religions to pick correctly. Afterwards, you may celebrate with pizza."

He paused.

"Just not here. I'm tired of all of you. Have a good summer."

Lulu's smile was, perhaps, a little bit smirk-ier than normal, as the class entered the home ec room. "Good afternoon," she said, as she leaned back against her desk. "Today is your final. All the ingredients you may require -- any many that you wish to use beyond that -- are available to you, although none of them have been prepared for you in advance. You have three options before you today. Each one will suffice as your examination, but each one has its advantages and disadvantages.

"The first option is to prepare lasagne al forno. This has the advantage of being a somewhat easier recipe, but has the disadvantage that your maximum possible grade is only 75%.

"The second option, for which the maximum possible grade is a full 100%, is to make a ham and cheese soufflé.

"The third option is to make chicken cordon in phyllo pastry, the most difficult recipe here today. Because of this, your potential maximum grade on your final exam then becomes 150%."

Lulu's smiled widened. "Choose wisely," she said. "There are a range of possibilities here. Consider that a spectacular failure may yet net you more points than a somewhat less spectacular success." She waved to the stations.

"Your time begins now. You have one hour."

[ZOMG, I finally remembered to post the night before. OCD is up! will be up in a few. Yes, Lulu is cruel. Very cruel. But aren't you hungry now? ;)]
