"I have nothing," Jean-Paul announced to the class, "So today, we watch a movie. A movie ste in France. I have little hope for its educational value, but at the least iti s entertaining. Your assignment for next week is to write a short essay on the myriad historical inaccuracies of Red Windmill!" And then he hit play and sat back to watch the movie himself.

Bridge arrives at the library a little bit early, as usual unlike the mun, sigh. With a nice big cup of coffee, as usual.

When the class entered the Danger Shop, they found themselves standing on the grounds around the school.

"Good day," John said. This week we're going to be covering an invasion that was outside my own expertise. Which just goes to prove that no matter what you're used to dealing with, eventually in Fandom you're going to run into something completely outside your experience.

"For me, that was when we were invaded by dinosaurs and other prehistoric creatures. I never dealt with them before, but I took what I did know and applied it to that situation, with the result being that I have the makings of a saber tooth catskin rug if I wanted one." John grinned.

"So today's about using what you've learned in facing the other threats we've studied in this class, as well as any personal experience you have to deal with Fandom's version of a blast from the past."

"While you were all either on this island or in its past two weeks ago, Dean Jones and I found ourselves butting some heads to get some important answers." Kerrigan's stance was considerably more natural-- confident, even-- today. "For that, we had to work together. Part of our mission involved infiltrating a government facility. While the intricacies of dealing with a situation like that would involve a hell of a lot more training, I feel it's important to at least be acquainted with some of the basic issues involved."

Her eyes flicked to River for all of an instant. "You learn these things, like most of the issues addressed in this course, by experience. So good luck. Make sure you don't go in alone."

She faded, leaving only a maze of dimly-lit (if squeaky-clean) tunnels behind. And, of course, the inveterate sets of armor.

Harriet stood and smiled at the class once everyone had arrived. "We've looked at some novel ways of solving conflicts, but novel doesn't mean effective in any but limited circumstances," she said, walking slowly around the classroom. "The key to effective conflict resolution is to know what your style is, and when that style is the wrong style for the situation."

"There are five main styles of conflict management and resolution: Cooperative problem-solving, competing, avoiding, accommodating and compromising. One way of remembering and exploring these different styles is to associate each with an animal." Harriet passed around a handout.

"These are just some examples. Now, what I want you to do is work out what sort of conflict management style comes most naturally to you. I also want you to really think about what you would do if you couldn't use your preferred option. What would you try next? What style would you never try? How would you respond to each of those if they were directed at you? Once you've done that, I want you to pick an animal that you think best fits you and your conflict style."

Harriet sat back down at her desk and gave them another smile. This one might not be so reassuring. "It can be any animal, it doesn't have to be one of the ones on the handout, and you can work individually or in pairs. Do make sure you each identify an animal, though, and remember it for next week."

[ooc: ETA to say next week you're actually going to be whatever animal you choose, so feel free to bear that bit of OOC knowledge in mind while picking your critter.]
