Ares relaxed at the front of the Danger Shop as he waited for the class to come in, just as if he hadn't fled the island like a fleeing thing the previous week.

"I trust you all treated Adama with the respect he deserves during my regrettable absence," he said. "and paid close attention during class. Because today, you have a midterm." He grinned. It wasn't really a nice grin.

"I want you all to divide into pairs, then to design an outfit for and dress each other using what you've learnt so far in class. The more...unique and interesting the better."

"Hey, class!" Tim said, bounding into the Danger Shop. "Today's class will entail building an addition to a house, and to make it a bit harder, it'll include a half-bath, so it will be framing, electrical, and plumbing," he said, unrolling a set of blueprints.

Everyone knew how to read blueprints, right? Oh. Maybe that should have been something Tim covered in previous classes.

"First off is a bit of demo, then some removal of the exterior sheeting and insulation, then framing a doorway and a frame for the room itself," he said, pointing at the mockup of the wall; each station had a wall. "You might want to do this in pairs, just to make things easier. Or make it quicker, and have one person cut lumber to size while the other is nailing the studs in place or something. Working on the pipes and wiring at the same time saves money, as long as the contractors don't get in each other's ways and then you have a mess and plumbing in your wiring and wiring in your plumbing."

He glanced at the class. "It's more common than you think."

He grabbed a 5 pound sledgehammer that has seen a good deal of work. "I prefer a five pounder, and I've been carrying this baby around for years. It's a Binford Sledge-Master, discontinued and upgraded by the Binford Sledge-Master 6100 with rubberized grip, hardened head with flat face and point for concrete, and an ergonomically engineered shaft to reduce vibration and hand fatigue, because when you're swinging your hammer all day long, you don't want your hands to get tired or numb," he said with a smile.

Like he knew from experience.

"So," he said, tucking the Danger Shop remote into his toolbelt, "just bring the sledge into position, and start hammering away. Tim brought the sledge up behind his back for an overhead swing...and the head of the hammer fell off the shaft onto his head.

It's okay, the hard-hat took most of it. It's only a concussion.

That's the good news. The bad news is that he landed on the remote and the exit doorway is now covered by about five mockups of the walls. Either someone's going to have to fix the remote or there's going to be a lot of sledging to do.

"Morning, guys," Aly said easily as the students filed into the Danger Shop.   "Last week, we talked about bodyguarding and hopefully over the past week, you got some 'real world' so to speak experience with it.  I'd like to hear about that today first of all."

"Secondly, if you'll break up into the pairs you had last week and decide who's going to be the bodyguard and who's being guarded, I have a scenario for each of you to go through."  She grinned.  "If you want to consider this your midterm, go for it."

"Anything you think you'll need as a bodyguard, there's a selection of things over there, you can grab.  Please don't kill anyone in the simulation unnecessarily.  That almost always reflects badly on your client."

Jenny had provided tea and pumpkin chocolate chip scones this week, and asked the club, "So, what did you do after you killed your deity or whatever, or what would you do after killing a deity in an ideal circumstance. I personally died, which I would not recommend to other people. In ideal circumstances, I think I would have taken a nap, or else had sex. Maybe with Brad Pitt. Or Angelina Jolie. Or both." She thought about it for a moment, then decided, "No, nap."
