Usually, when the students came into the Danger Shop for class, Kenpachi hadn't arrived yet, so it would be normal for no one to be there when they gathered. However, what was unusual, was that someone would already be there, leaning against a table with her arms crossed over a very...significant chest, smirking in front of the Shop's simple dojo appearance.

Yes, this blonde woman was definitely not Kenpachi. She smiled at the students as they came in; a few of the boys even got sly smirks and a wink or two. When it appeared that they were all there, she drew in a breath and clasped her hands excitedly, happily in front of her. "Oh, this is just wonderful! I'm so excited to be here! You all look like bright, intelli--"

It was at that point that Kenpachi entered the room, with very stiff knees, and, instantly, a flash of rage covered his scarred, jagged face.

What the... )

"Now!" With another very noticeable bounce , Rangiku clapped her hands together and smiled at the students again. "I'll let you all ask moi some questions, and then I'll have you fight me! I want you to approach me doing your very, very best to sway me with your charm and we'll see how that works before we get to the good stuff! Right, Zaraki-taichou?"

Zarkai rolled his eye. "I am going to kill Hitsugaya. You heard the woman, students. Get to it. And let me just add that I disagree completely with everything she has said except that last part. You'll also find, though, that it isn't just her attempting to give substance to her vapid approach. She isn't a lieutenant for nothing."

His eyes passed over the class for a moment to get initial reactions before they got to the assignment of the class. He stopped when he spotted the girl who had failed the first week. "And you," he said, making sure to single her out in front of everyone, "are to see me after class. The rest of you, get to work."

[[ Wait for the OCD has landed! please! Links above slightly NWS due to WTF boobage. Also, this didn't work last week because of the problems LJ was having, but I've created a post that I will include a link for where it would be very appreciated if you tagged in with a list of your characters powers, skills, abilities, strengths, weakness, etc. It will go up with every post so we can always return to it for reference, especially when we have guests who aren't being played by me or activities where you're playing with each other....not dirty. because this is a school, omg. ]]

[[ ETA: Just a note because it's been brought to my attention. All you have to do is sign in. That's all that's required. The fun icons in the sign in post and the handwavey threads are just fun and/or appreciated, but you are not required to do them. Sorry for any confusion. ]]

[[ ETA the Second: Blarg, I just forgot things left and right today. Weapons for the fight portion are, as usual, completely moddable ]]

Phoebe was sitting in a canvas chair by the campfire and there were seats scattered around her in a haphazard circle. She was careful in her movements, but she was smiling. There was a large cup of tea at her side.

"Okay, guys, last week, Chris started talking to you about one of the important events in the history of Witchcraft. The Salem Witch trials changed the history of so many things because, as you learned, very few who were executed were actually witches at all. People were accused of Witchcraft by their neighbours because they had something the others wanted." She smiled again, but it was a bit sad. "The crime of Witchcraft became the end all and be all as a tool of revenge. It made it too dangerous for actual witches to practice their craft or even act like they had understanding of herbs or anything like that. I believe Chris may have also told you the story of our ancestor, Melinda Warren?" She tilted her head. "Melinda Warren was the first in the line of my family that was a witch. Like all of us, she was a good witch who only wanted to help people. However, there was an evil man who wanted her power, and he turned her in to the hunters. Rather than save herself, she allowed herself to be burned at the stake to protect her daughter." She frowned a little. "No one knows what happened to the evil man who caused all of that."

She sighed, fidgetting a little in her chair and biting her lip for a moment.

"Unfortunately, what happened in Salem was not the worst of the witch-hunts and executions. In Europe, something even worse than the Salem Hunts happened. This was called the Burning Times." A handout was given to everyone as Phoebe shifted in her chair again. She took a drink from her cup. "During the Middle Ages, there were really no laws that were ordering the killing of suspected witches. However, in the 15th century, two groups of people were summarily executed. The Cathars during the Albigensian Crusade and the Knights Templar were wiped out by the church and the King of France. The charges were different flavours of Witchcraft. Interesting bit of trivia? It was the attack on the Knights Templar on October 13th of 1307 that caused the belief that Friday the 13th was unlucky and dangerous. However, the Knights Templar and King Phillip were not responsible for those horrible movies of the same name."

She stood up and paced a little.

"For today, I want us to discuss the Middle Ages and what happened to the Templars and the Cathars. Do you think what happened was justified by the Church and was the right of the King? Do you think there could have been other ways to get what they wanted from those two groups of people without killing every last one of them?" She smiled. "There are no right or wrong answers. I'm not grading you on your opinions and your feelings. Next week we'll delve into what happened in Early Modern Europe following those two acts."

"Hey guys!" There was coffee, shockingly, out for the students, and a large, white banner lying out.

It read "MOST FAVORITEST VICE PRINCIPAL" but was blank otherwise.

"Today, we're talking about using glitter to decorate for someone else -- like for a party, or something like that. You want to make sure it's tasteful and that it won't get all over people, but also, keep in mind that the person might really like glitter. Like our favorite Vice Principal, who loves the stuff." She pointed at the glittery art supplies. "So we're decorating that for him, to make his office more bright. Use all the glitter, sequins, pipe cleaners, feathers, beads and other moddable items et cetera you'd like. The shinier the better in this case, but remember, it's important to know your audience. If this were for my friend Aeryn, I wouldn't use nearly as much glitter because I know she doesn't like it. Hades, on the other hand, likes sparkles more than a drag queen on the Vegas strip. Really."

"So, first I want to hear how you all used the glitter from last week, and then we're going to decorate this for the Veep. Oh! And if any of you are in John Crichton's class? Make sure to tell him about this for credit. Um, not that we're annoying anyone. Really."

The site is still busy with NPC guys in hardhats and toolbelts running the heavy machinery, but an area's been set aside for the graduate workers to sort and stack some of the new loads of brick that have just been delivered. Hats, belts, eyewear and tools are provided as usual, as well as work-gloves in such fashionable color choices as orange, orange, or orange.

Workers and visitors might notice Xander eyeing the pink hardhat that might or might not have Conner's name on it now, but he isn't going to say anything. Considering Xander is now wearing the Galaxy Quest hat, who's he to judge?

Anakin's mouth was set in a slightly harder line today than normal.

It had nothing to do with the new month.

And he wouldn't explain himself even if it did.

The flight simulator had been reconfigured again--this time to something that should seem a bit more familiar to Earth-based students: The F-16 Flying Falcon.

Anakin clasped his hands behind his back and began speaking. "This is one of the aircraft used by the militaries of this world," he began. "It's good in air-to-air combat as well as air-to-surface attack, can go more than 850 kilometers before it needs to be refueled and can withstand up to nine G's--pretty high tech for this world's standards."

He opened the simulator door and gestured to the controls. "As you can see, it's configured differently than the systems we've been using in the last few weeks, but the joystick and the trigger button are located in the same place. The F-16 just isn't as sensitive as the starfighter--you'll have to yank harder at the joystick to get the same reaction."

He was completely oblivious to any kind of innuendo that might've been found in that statement. "You'll also be dealing with the Earth's gravity, so turns won't be as fast, and if you make the plane go up too quickly, the machine's been equipped to simulate G forces, so you might pass out. That's not exactly what I had in mind for today, so please don't do that."

Ares smiled at his class. It wasn't a particularly comforting smile.

"You all acquitted yourselves satisfactorily during last week's class," he said. "Most people would have just gone fleeing to the hills. However, despite your valiant efforts, most, if not all of your fellow villagers have been slaughtered and what few remain have banished you in a fit of blame?"

"What do you do? Do you try and futilely beg forgiveness from your peers? Do you attempt to raise an army to prevent your town from ever coming under attack again? Do you become obsessed with trying to destroy the one who attacked your village in the first place?"

"Break up into groups and discuss what you would do, how you would go about it, and how this would have a positive effect on your self-confidence."
