Sakura . . . wasn’t in the classroom this morning. Instead, when the students filed in, they would see a very young-looking woman in a yellow jacket and pigtails, waving at them from the display screens; the background behind her was a near mirror image of the classroom, though with more electronic equipment lying about.

“Hi, Sakura-neesan’s students! Your teacher can’t be with you today because Natsuki messed up and Sakura-neesan has to fix it." Under her breath, and looking a bit dejected about it, she added, “Again." In a louder tone, she continued, “You were supposed to get a chance to look at the Golden Sword of Lemuria, but Natsuki might have misplaced it . . . it’s okay! They’ll find it! Really!"

The prerecorded image pointed toward the stack of handouts on the table. “Sakura-neesan wants you to read up about Natsuki’s home continent, Lemuria, this week. But Natsuki thinks you’d rather watch a movie instead, right? Souta-kun said so. And the first episode of the original Strifenova Celestial talked about Lemuria, too, so you get to watch that today!" She looked around furtively, then back at the screen. “Don’t tell Sakura-neesan, okay?"

Several moments later, after some very evident futzing about, the recording finally cut out and the movie -- or TV episode, really -- began.

[OOC: Why yes, it’s movie day today owing to my entire night being eaten by resume-rewriting fun. Sigh.]

As students entered, Professor Roslin was at the front of the room, flipping through a packet of materials, one similar to those left on each desk for the students. It consisted of excerpts, clippings, and notes she had made from her various readings throughout the semester, containing commentary on human nature and how human nature shaped communities. She had made sure to include some of the Revolutionary thinkers -- Rousseau, Locke, Jefferson, and even Hamilton and Washington -- as well as some she didn't care for as much, such as Hobbes. There might have even been a bit about Plato's "City in Speech"...and how, with human nature, it could never truly exist.

Laura began class as the bell rang. "Good afternoon, everyone. I hope you've had as...entertaining...a week as I've had," she said, mentally reminding herself to go to the clinic as soon as possible.

"I'm not sure how things are run here," she continued, "but today will be considered a reading day. The packets I've given you should provide some good food for thought as you go into the weekend. Your exam next week will be part verbal response, part essay. For the rest of the class period, please review the information in the packets, discussing it and the material from the rest of the semester with your classmates." She paused, smiling. "Please try to stay on topic for at least twenty minutes.

"I'll be available at the front during class, or in my office tomorrow and Wednesday, should you have any questions or like to discuss any of the material."

With that, she took her seat and allowed the students to read and discuss.

"Hey," Elliot greeted her students from a casual perch atop her desk. "Easy class today because the final is next week." She pointed to a set of posters hung around the room. "You can use those or your textbooks for review, or I'm here for questions. If it's easier for you to work in groups, that works for me."

"Seriously, if there's anything you didn't quite catch during the semester, speak up now or consider your peace held."

She remained in her seat as the students began their study session.

Daisy didn't get out of her seat in class, today.

"As I told those of you who stuck around last week, and in the handwaved email I sent out, I've worked out what I'd like your final projects to be. Pick a book or literary work that speaks to you. One that has themes that you really identify with and agree with. And I'd like you, on your own or in groups real or handwavey to write up a treatment on that book. How would you present it as a film? How would you use the visual medium to express the main theme, to stress the really important ideas? Today, I'd like you all to get started working on that. I have all the films we've watched this semester if you want to use any of them as references."

[ooc: yeah, I know, it's uninspired, but I'm kind of oogy today, and at work, and all that rot. I would like to state for the record that I hate seasonal allergies. OCD is on its way up. Don't forget to meta!]

"It's time for the second part of your final," El said to his class when they were all settled. "Get your guitars and play something wonderful for me."

"Good afternoon, class!" You couldn't think the Friz's ensembles could get bouncier. You haven't seen her in a chef's hat. It matched the various ingredients laid out on the lab benches.

"Next week is supposed to be your exam, but who needs tests? It's going to be our science! fair! I hope you've all been working on your projects to show off your newfound knowledge! And invite your friends to see! Oh, it's so exciting!"

Bounce and the hat almost fell off.

"But today we're going to be studying chemistry! Ah, chemistry! Exothermic reactions! Chemical bonding! It's so wonderful, isn't it, children?"

She bounced happily around the classroom distributing recipes for cakes and cookies, babbling happily about atomic structure and chemical reactions.

"Time to take chances! Make mistakes! And get . . . baking!"

[[I had an exam today and totally forgot about class, sorry. So Science! Fair instead of exam, yes? Posters going up IG soon. Work in partners or alone but if you could give me a heads-up as to what you're doing/who you're working with, thanks!]]

Josh was sucking down coffee like he'd never seen the stuff before in his life.

"Next week's your final exam, so today...we play hangman!" he announced. "Or you do. Pick out vocabulary words, key terms, blah blah whatever." He took another drink from his mug. "As long as you're quiet and doing something that you could convince me is related in some way to the US government, I'm happy."

Josh had provided pizza and soda for the members of the Student Council.

"Prom was great--well done, Isabel and Peter," he said with a grin. "Added bonus--no one turned into penguins!"

He'd been worried, yeah.

"Graduation's coming up--do you have any plans as a group you want to implement before then?"

The auditorium has been transformed into what looks like a rock concert arena. As the students enter they might recongnize the Zombie band from Caritas playing a medley of John Denver tunes.

Suddenly the lights change and Lorne bounces out onto the stage.

"Welcome Cats and Kittens to the one, the only FANDOM IDOL! Each week my students have been honing their singing skills all for a chance to perform for YOU! And now the time has come for them to rock this house and for you... the student assembly to decide who is this year's FANDOM IDOL!"

"Before we begin let's give it up for our guest judges Principal Washboard, VP Hayden Dees and Dean Tic-Tac."

"So c'mon everyone... Let's get this party started!"

[OCD is up!]

The classroom was back to the boring uniform classroom with plain walls and desks and shelves. The Doctor's desk was devoid of any sign of his holo-projector. The classroom was merely that, again, a classroom. The Doctor himself was at his teacher's desk, sitting back in the chair, his feet propped up.

"For those of you worried about a final, well, it'll be really easy. Boring old essay test. For those of you thinking we'll be having another instance of my sneaky holographic practical exam, sorry, no. Going to take it easy on you, what with summer being so soon. Now, the topic for today, well... it's a matter that will sadly hit close to home, especially what with graduation coming up, and some other incidents lately that I've heard of."

He took a deep breath and stood up.

"People go in and out of your lives. It's inevitable. You can't have everyone around forever. People grow up, move on, die, fall behind, everything. And the most important thing to remember is this: You have to let it happen. Everything has its time. And if you truly love someone, truly respect them, you respect their choices, their decisions. It sounds ridiculous, sounds stupid, but... you have to let go."

Another deep breath.

"Susan Foreman, Barbara Wright, Ian Chesterton, Vicki Pallister, Steven Taylo, Katarina, Sara Kingdom, Dodo Chaplet, Ben Jackson, Polly Wright, Jamie McCrimmon, Victoria Waterfield, Zoe Heriot, Liz Shaw, Jo Grant, Sarah Jane Smith, Harry Sullivan, Leela, K-9, Romanadvoratrelundar, Adric, Nyssa of Traken, Tegan Jovanka, Vislor Turlough, Erimem, Kamelion, Perpugilliam Brown, Frobisher, Evelyn Smythe, Melanie Bush, Dorothy McShane, Thomas Hector Schofield, Chris Cwej, Roz Forrester, Bernice Summerfield, Dr. Grace Holloway, Samantha Jones, Fitz Kreiner, Charlotte Pollard, C'rizz, Rose Tyler, Jane Canary."

He left Jack off the list for obvious reasons.

"You know what that list is? That's a list of just some of the people that have meant a lot to me, over the years. The people I've travelled with, laughed with, sat down and had a meal with. People I've loved, people I got furious at, people who were an integral part of my life. I've watched them fall in love and settle down, go back to their daily lives because they couldn't stay up with me, crash into the Earth to cause the dust cloud that would make the dinosaurs go extinct. In two weeks time, a good lot of you will be graduating, and the rest of you will be having friends that do so. Now is the parting of ways. You'll see each other again, if life dictates it. Until then, there must be no regrets, no tears, no anxieties. Just go forward in all your beliefs, and prove to each other that they are not mistaken in theirs."

He smiled. "No sense in keeping you around, really. Class dismissed until next week's final. Any questions, come see me after."
