Monday, March 12, Period 2

There was fine array of breakfast pastries and cookies laid out for the students today, along with plenty of hot drinks and juices. As soon as everyone was assembled, Aziraphale stood up from his chair and smiled.

"First, I want to remind you all that we will be taking our class field trip this weekend. The buses will load at the causeway on Friday at 3:00, and we'll return Sunday night. I'd like to ask anyone who cannot attend to please let me know, otherwise I will expect to see you all there. Now, I'll need to see the following people after class to collect your absence excuses."

Matilda Wormwood (two absences)
Angela Chase (one absence)
Jack Harkness (one absence) excused
Liz Sherman (one absence) excused

DISCUSSION: "Today we're going to have an open discussion to allow you all the chance to ask questions about the readings or the lectures, or to share your ideas about the material we've covered. Next week we'll be having a test on 'Themes', so this might be a good time to review that material as well."

The reading list so far... )

[ooc: I should be around, with intermittant SP due to work, to answer any questions the characters have. Go ahead, throw out your ideas about the stories they've read so far, talk about how crazy the plots are or how silly the heros are or how you think the story should have ended! Please wait just a few minutes for the OCD is up, yay!.]

Having missed his usual shift last Thursday due to a sudden case of girl, Bridge arrives at the library right after DAMM class.

Anakin was leaning against the desk as the Ethics class walked in. A crumpled version the syllabus was in his hand.

"I hope you all stayed dry this weekend and kept your fish throwing to a minimum," he said. "The syllabus says that we're supposed to begin a discussion of the seven deadly sins today, but I want to get to know you a little bit first."

He was supposed to be a new instructor, after all.

"What manner of action do you find unforgivable?" he asked, his voice and manner completely unreadable. "Treason against your country or homeworld? Stealing from the defenseless? Slavery? Murder? Let's not worry about extenuating circumstances for the moment. If I were to tell you I killed children, most of you would recoil, correct? Where do you draw that line in your head? How far does someone have to go before you say 'that's wrong and there's no getting past it'?"

He avoided John's eyes as he paced around the room, finally pointing at a student. "Go ahead."

Wilson was leaning against the front of the desk, hiding a yawn behind one hand and holding coffee with the other. He hated daylights savings time. As everybody came in and got settled, he gave the group a tired grin and pushed away from the desk.

“All right guys. First things first, I’m going to be passing around a packet of information that details out our plans for this weekend, including who your roommates will be. If you have any questions or concerns about any of this, please see me after class, catch me during office hours or give me a call on my voicemail.”

Walking up between the rows, he passed out the packets and then headed back down to the front of the class.

“Today we’re going to be discussing the importance of clear communication in resolving a conflict.”

When everyone had filed in, Logan was putting out art supplies and copies of the poster books they'd had last week on everyone desks.

"Hey, guys," he greeted them, moving to sit at his desk again. "Today's a fun exercise, I hope."

Logan gestured to the supplies. "Last week we talked about propaganda and how it works as a tool for influencing opinions with biased information.

"Today, you get to put that to work. Choose the topic, your audience, how you want to skew your information, and then create a poster designed to convey that. If you need any suggestions, take a look at some of the techniques listed on the handout from last week."

[ooc: If you choose to participate, feel free just to describe your poster, draw something in the artpad, or find a picture on the web to work with. Please wait for the comments to proceed have fun making your posters!]

The gym as always was very gym like, nothing overly different except that the mats were kind of squishy when walked on.

"Good Morning everyone! We’re continuing today with Capoeria. Like before, I would like you to break up into partners for your sparring. Now I don’t expect anyone to be able to do the acrobatics that they were performing on the videos last week, but," Yondaime paused with a grin and a smile. "I won’t be disappointed if any of you surprise me."

Onto the lecture... fun stuff. )

[Sorry for the lateness, and thanks to Kry for posting the update for me! OCD coming soon is up.]
[identity profile] rose-bad-wolf.livejournal.com
The classroom had a big plasma TV at the center of the board, Rose strode in, flashed the students a smile.

"Hope you lot didn't fall sick when Fandom literally went to the fishes." Rose said, entering happily. "I hope you did you're assignments, don't give 'em often you know so this rare occasion, I expect them to be good."

"Today, we are going to talk about --" She made a wavy motion to the TV screen, "The Telly! Won't bore you with the essentials and history and whatnot. Since it's been months since our first class I'd assume you knew what a television set is. We 21st century folk are creatures of our own creation and since the birth of this fancy thing we've been slaves to it from the first black and white TV serials to atrocious reality shows, mindnumbing soap operas and to the truly brilliant TV shows like the Oval Office, Wendy the Werewolf Stalker, Z-Cases and Mr. What and others I know you all like."

"So, I pose this question to you lot, given how long you've been here you must surely have seen your share of shows I'd like you to discuss your favorite shows and why you like them. Easy and fun discussion folks! Have fun!"

This week, it wasn't Peter opening up the salle for the fencing club. Hamlet was there, and had already set up the towels and practice weapons. There was also a jug of what looked conspicuously like McDonald's Orange Drink (now with 20% less Soylent Orange!) and a small stack of paper cups on a table off to the side.

"Good evening. I'm your rarely seen co-captain of the fencing club. Peter is indisposed this evening, so it's my task to keep things running on schedule. I don't have anything in particular planned for fencing club today, so you're free just warm up, and practice sparring by yourself or with someone else, as you see fit."

[OOC: Plz to be waiting for OCD threads. Finished! Have at it.]

There was a TV at the front of the classroom today and Deadpool was glaring at it, muttering something about electrocutions and head trauma.

It would be best not to ask.

"Goooood morning impressionable youngsters. I am completely out of ideas to teach you about this week. I was thinking about forcing you all to perform death defying stunts without the aid of a stunt double, but I'm thinking you all might enjoy that a little too much. I'm not going to name any names involving ramps and destroyed vegetable carts." He coughed, "Mel and Demyx."

He held up a DVD. "So, instead, I'm having you kids watch a documentary about the real consequences of speeding. And drifting. And poor acting. And that hunky Vin guy. Next time I'll get the bootlegged newest movie of the series that isn't even out yet, The Moderately Paced and the Mildly Irate.""

[[OOC: Yes, this is a total blow off class, I'm too fried to think up anything clever or informative. Please wait for the OCD is up!]]
