Ms. Readman opened the library bright and early Monday morning and took up her station behind the desk with a book of Shakespeare's sonnets. Ah, she did love romance.

As the class entered, they were all handed a handout about the Spanish past perfect. "The trick to taking the Spanish past perfect is knowing when to use it," El said. "Typically, in English, it's used when you would say "I had done something". For example "I had eaten in the cafetaria", suggesting that you no longer do so. Wheras the past tense is temprorary state in a specific time, past perfect is an ongoing state over a longer period of time.

"I've provided a test today about the past perfect tense along with some vocabulary. Let's see how you do."

Good little students who reviewed the handwavy now regularly but still mysteriously delivered packets might expect to see a snake as this week's guest speaker. However, as the students enter they will notice Mary Poppins standing next to the biggest snake they possibly have ever seen. The front third of its body is standing upright, tall enough to be looking Mary Poppins in the eye and conversing with her.

It appears to be a cobra, those who are very familiar with snakes will recognize it as a King Cobra, also known as a Hamadryad.

Students who already speak Parseltongue and who listen into the conversation hear the two of them making plans to meet at the Zoo the next time Mary's birthday is on a full moon.

Once all the students are settled Mary and the Hamadryad both turn to gaze at the class. It is possibly a little off putting how alike those gazes are.

I would like you all to meet my cousin... )

"Today is going to be more of a research lesson for you guys, instead of me lecturing at you.

We're looking at the Tudor family in England and then the English Civil War

What I want you to do is tell me a bit about each of the Tudor monarchs -- things like their dates would be an excellent start -- and things like what they did.

For the Civil War, I want to know, well, dates again and who was involved and why it happened.

Throughout both parts, I'd like for you to think back to last week and examine the religious motivations and preferences throughout, especially answering the question -- "Was the English Civil War a war of religion?"

I'm also setting your midterm, which is to be handed in October 30th. Instead of setting a dry essay, I'd like for you to look back at the eras we've studied and write a newspaper article or feature on an event. Just something that if you opened a paper called, say, "The History Times," you'd find a piece like you wrote in it.

Now. Any questions?"

"Good afternoon, everyone," Lorelai greeted the class after everyone had entered and taken a seat. "I hope you all had a chance to do your homework and watch a sitcom this past week, though with all the excitement of Homecoming, I'd understand if you didn't."

She began a lecture on the history and various types of sitcoms.

"And in case some of you didn't have a chance to watch a sitcom, I'm going to show you some clips of a very popular show, Buddies."

Rachel on the plane to London, Rachel & Monica double date with some cute doctors they met at the hospital, and Monica sings at Mike's piano bar.

"Next week we're going to cover police and law dramas, so if you have a chance to catch one before then, please do. If not, I'll show you clips again next week."

When the students came in, the coffee was burbling and the screen was on, displaying what looked to be a pair of piercing eyes framed in red and blue lines. After everyone had signed in and taken a seat, Logan's voice came out of the speakers, sounding a bit muffled and tired.

"Hey, guys. Last week, I said I wanted a short proposal turned in by today. That's still true, but I'm giving you the entire class time today to discuss with your partner and turn in the short, written proposal by the end of the period.

"I apologize for not being there in person today, but I seem to have caught something and, as much as I like you guys, I'd rather not pass it on and make you sick as well. If I'm better I'll be in my office tomorrow, should you need to see me for anything."

[ooc: Huge apologies, but something has been dumped on me that I need to get done before anything else. Sorry for nothing more substantial. Next week will be actual content. You've got until next week to get in the proposal as I'll just leave the post open until then - or just handwave, as you see fit.]

Laura stood at the front of the class room, clad today in one of her suits. To her right, a large cream-and-gray ball of fur on one shoulder, stood Professor Harrington. They were speaking quietly among themselves as the students filed in from earlier classes and lunch. On the desk behind them, envelopes awaited each student. Inside, they would find their party assignments and any other motivating issues they should know, whether it be new information or reiteration of the notes from the previous class.

The desks in the room had been divided into two, labelled groups. On one side, desks were labelled "Centrist," "Loyalist," and "Progressives"; on the opposite side, desks were labelled "Liberals," "New Men," and "Conservative Association." At the center were two desks, these labelled "Her Majesty" and "Prime Minister" respectively.

Excusing herself from her conversation with Professor Harringon, Laura attempted to call the class to order. "If everyone would please take their seats according to their party assignment, we'll get started."

She paused again for a few seconds... )

[Please wait for the OCD threads. Honor and Laura will be available after about 5:30 EST are finally available for pings (frakking headaches). Be sure to annoy one another, and if you have any problems or questions that can't be handled in game, drop me an e-mail: laura dot roslin at gmail dot com.]

Aeryn's been in the flight shed for a while today, and she looks a little more cheerfu when everyone arrives, just for today's material. Well, cheerful for Aeryn. Which means she doesn't look like she's ready to kill you.

"We're going back to something some of us have done before," she tells them. "Today we're working on the Jedi starfighter. Normally built for use with an astromech droid that helps you fly, today the instructor will play that part. They're no longer in use, but as someone who's tried one, that really is unfortunate. I'd like you just to try it out, take it for a run, and those of you who have flown one before, feel free to show the new people how it's done. I'm sure no one will have problems showing off."

[Replies may be slow due to the fact that my Gmail is broken. Will ping as soon as I can, though.
OCD is up, go play.]
