Intro to 21st Century American Culture - Monday - Period Five

"Good afternoon, everyone," Lorelai greeted the class after everyone had entered and taken a seat. "I hope you all had a chance to do your homework and watch a sitcom this past week, though with all the excitement of Homecoming, I'd understand if you didn't."

She began a lecture on the history and various types of sitcoms.

"And in case some of you didn't have a chance to watch a sitcom, I'm going to show you some clips of a very popular show, Buddies."

Rachel on the plane to London, Rachel & Monica double date with some cute doctors they met at the hospital, and Monica sings at Mike's piano bar.

"Next week we're going to cover police and law dramas, so if you have a chance to catch one before then, please do. If not, I'll show you clips again next week."

Basically because if it doesn't involve pies to the face or falling down he doesn't get it.

Pete didn't understand the majority of the clips, other than that it seemed to just be telling him that women were crazy, which he totally already knew.

And he was thoroughly disappointed that all those people in the piano bar could see that brunette woman's boobs, but he couldn't.

Gwynn was thinking that most people in these clips were crazy.

"Is any of this even normal behavior," she asked Pete. "I mean, not where I come from... but does this happen where you're from?"

Stark wasn't entirely sure what was going on in all of the clips, but they were vaguely amusing, if only in a "I have no idea what's going on and these people are very strange" sort of way.

Buddies is something Mac is totally used to, so she just sits back and watches. There may also be the odd dirty look sent in Bel's direction, not that she expected him to notice.

Okay - so, in Fandom, we're all fictional which means none of us are fictional and we have created meta versions of all fandoms (which you can learn more about on the FH Wiki). So, for the purposes of this class, you're learning about the meta version of Friends which we call Buddies despite the fact that I'm using Friends clips.
