Daisy was seated in her oversized arm chair at the side of the classroom reading a copy of Playbill magazine when the students entered. There was a stack of papers on the podium with a sign stating "take one" above them. When everyone had entered and had some time to take the quiz, she set aside her magazine and gracefully got to her feet.

"As the papers say, those quizzes are not going to be graded. That wouldn't be fair, and apparently fairness, though not required in the majority of the real world, is something that you kids are supposed to get in a classroom setting. They're simply a bit of fun and to find out what you already know about the basic terminology of theater." She picked up another stack of papers and started passing those out. "On these sheets, you'll find the correct answers to the quiz, as well as a lot of other facts and terminology about theater. Some of these terms you, as actors, will never actually need to know. That's pretty much anything about lighting or sound equipment, if you're wondering. But a lot of them you do need to know. When a director tells you you need to cheat out, or to move upstage left, if you end up looking up the answers to your history test or walking forwards and to your right, you might be in a bit of trouble.

"So today we're going to practice some of these terms. I want you to pair up or work in groups of three. You'll take turns as the actor and as the director, and I want to you block an imaginary scene. The director will give you instructions using the terms on these sheets, and you'll follow them. Or don't. That's really up to you and I can't actually tell you what to do, but as long as you understand the terms, I don't really care."

That said, Daisy gestured for the students the students to begin and made herself ready to move from group to group and help out where necessary.

[ooc: The link to the quiz is to a backdated poll, please, if you choose to fill it out, do it IC. You can RP asking neighbors for help on it or some such if you like. Daisy isn't choosing the groups for you this time, pair up as you will. I have a meeting at work on Tuesday from about 2 pm, so I'll be afk for awhile, but Daisy will be in and out as much as possible.]

"Good morning," V greeted quietly from the shadows when everyone had arrived. "Today we shall discuss the Judicial system of the United States, as well as due process."

He continued on in a low voice for a few minutes, hitting high points like the Miranda warning, trial by jury and the fifth amendment to the United States' Constitution, and stressing the fact that while their homes may be found in other places, the States is their home for the time being and thus is the system with which to chiefly concern themselves.

"However," V continued, "there are very definitely two sides to the law, and at least two parties to consider. Hence...we're going to engage in an activity."

He gestured expansively. "One half of you will be criminals who have been apprehended for a crime of your choosing. The rest of you will be the arresting officers, of sorts. Accused students? You are to attempt to escape arrest via whatever means necessary - nonviolent, please, but lying, cheating, conniving, negotiating...all of these are encouraged. And arrestors? You are to be fair, but stand by your principles and do your best to keep them from escaping, please."

He glanced at the roster for scarcely a second before saying, "If your surname, or only name if you have a single name, ends in an N or an R, you are a criminal. The rest of you are officers. Please pair up."

[Wait for OCD, plz OCD up! I am crashing very soon, will be around late morning/early afternoon EDT and then steadily through the day. But this is pretty much student/student interaction, so have fun, guys.

ETA: Due to various things, we're shorter on cops than we are on robbers. So extra robbers, please team up, or crash a thread to help one of the others escape. My apologies for apparently not being able to count or something.]

Elliot grins at the class as they file in, and four lab stations are arranged in the back of the room.

"Hi, guys. We need to do a little bit of chemistry this week before we get into the serious biology. The kind of chemistry used in biology is called biochemistry, or the chemistry of life. There's a whole long chapter in your books about it, but basically it's the study of the chemical processes and chemical transformations in living organisms. Since life forms alive today are believed to have descended from the same common ancestor, they naturally have similar biochemistries -- even for things you'd think might be random, like the genetic code or handedness of various biomolecules.

"Biochemistry is the study of the structure and function of cellular components, such as proteins, carbohydrates, lipids, nucleic acids, and other biomolecules. The biochemistry of cell metabolism and the endocrine system has been extensively described. Other areas of biochemistry include the genetic code -- DNA and RNA -- protein synthesis, cell membrane transport, and signal transduction.

"Today, you're going to split into four groups of three. Each group will test an everyday food for three common kinds of organic molecules -- sugars, proteins and fats. Before you do that, let me show you the experiments you need to do to test for those things."

She proceeded to manipulate a series of vials through experiments to test for sugars, proteins, and fats before waving the students back to the lab tables. " Each group should test one kind of food. I'm not going to assign groups this week, but I might start to in the future. Let me know what you guys would prefer."

Ms. Frizzle had on a pair of massive (and slightly sparkly) lab goggles as she played with something that could possibly be magnesium. Liz was snoozing on a stack of textbooks on the other side of the lab.

She's here for anyone who needs her.

[[In and out for class the next few hours, here all afternoon, scary class of writingness *wibbles* tonight.]]

Aly was thumbing through what quite possibly looked like last year's yearbook when the class started to file in.  She looked up at them with a grin and watched as they all found a seat.  At each desk was a copy of the syllabus.

"Very well then, try to practice the guidelines I set out and come back next week prepared to tell what you did and how they worked.  Also memorise that list and let me know if it was too easy, too hard, whichever.  Oh!  And the TA's for the class are Eric Weiss and Bridge Carson so they should  be able to help you out if I'm not around for some reason."

[OOC: *blinks at omglong" If you haven't seen my OOC post here, please go take a look at it.  Also, the ten rules were taken with gratitude from the Handbook of Practical Spying by Jack Barth.  I'll be around all day and please wait for the OCD threads. OCD is Up!]

On the front desk next to the sign up sheet there was tea and coffee and a plate of home made cookies of various sorts. Wilson was already behind the desk, whistling as he set up his laptop. Someone of the angelic persuasion had sent him flowers and one of the handsome white roses was tucked dorkily into his lapel.

As soon as the students settled into their seats, Wilson leaned back against the desk and started the lecture.

"Good afternoon." He said in a chipper tone. "Today we’re going to talk about the senses of humor. Not just, your sense of humor but also how we take in humor through our senses."

Picking up a remote, Wilson dimmed the lights and lowered the white screen behind him. )

[ooc: Please wait for The OCD is up, have at!!]

[OOC-PS. Because I'm a dork and forgot to say so in the comment, please feel free to groan and comment upon your classmates jokes. :)]

Yomiko dashed into the library, almost late. Her hair wasn't even brushed yet.

The sign on the door announcing the new library aides was still there.
