Daniel is still looking sober as he sits at the front of the classroom, and repeats his spiel from this morning.

"I'll start the lecture in a minute. But, I presume you all heard Dean Bristow's announcement yesterday. I don't know how many of you knew Ms Pryde, but I'm going to be in my office all day if you feel like you want to talk to me. I know you're asking yourselves why talk to the archaeology professor... well, I'm an orphaned widower, so I do have experience in this sort of thing."

He gives his lecture on the pronounciation of Ancient Egyptian, before turning to his class.

"There's no homework tonight. But as I said to my students this morning, if you do feel that you need to talk to someone, do. If not to me, then to another member of staff, or you can go to the clinic or see someone in town.

See you next week.

Janet opened up the library early on Friday so she could get out in time to get lunch in town with Sam, and then go check out McKay and Jonas' new repair shop.

Spider's missing again, but the screen at the end of the classroom is scrolling a message.

Today is being given to you to explore your homework assignment and discuss. Attendance credit will not be given if you do not actually discuss. Thank you.

Greetings, everyone. I have an appointment later today, so I am forgoing the lecture portion of today's class and only requiring you complete the following experiment.

We will use the experiment to derive the equation for time dilation. Following the steps of the derivation may also help you to understand how Einstein’s postulates lead inescapably to the conclusion that time dilation occurs.

The experiment uses a light-based clock mounted on a high-speed skateboard. Ordinary clocks use periodic mechanical or electric processes, such as the oscillation of a pendulum or a timing circuit, to establish a unit of time. A light clock uses the amount of time it takes a pulse of light to travel a particular distance. The light clock is convenient to use in this scenario, but any clock would record the same result.

A light pulse is emitted from the base of the clock. The pulse reflects off the top of the clock and returns to the bottom. The clock measures time by using the relationship of time to distance and speed. The elapsed time for the up-and-down journey equals the distance the light pulse travels, divided by the speed of light.

In our experiment, let’s consider one “tick” of the clock. The light rises from the bottom of the clock, reflects off the top, and returns to the bottom. The professor, who is also on the skateboard, sees the light pulse moving straight up and down, and he measures the distance it travels as being twice the height of the clock . . .

Oh, and Hank? I apologize for leaving without answering your question yesterday. Your paper was more than acceptable. *smiles*

301--Register: Movie Day

[The snack table is set up with chocolate, popcorn, sandwiches, coffee, tea, and sodas. The television awaits.]

Hey gang. Pay attention to how these people talk to each other, and what social position they hold. PLease note when those lines are blurred or crossed.

[She slips in Office Space and takes a seat. She's writing on a yellow legal pad and barely pays attention to the movie, or conversations...unless they are too loud.]

Class--

If each of you could stop by my office today at your earliest convenience, I'd appreciate it. Feel free to bring a companion if you're worried you like. I assure you that the gremlin venom has worn off.

Best,
the Doctor

[Ten closes his laptop and rubs his forehead, right between his eyes. This was going to be...interesting.]

((Yes, I'd usually do this in an individual voicemail message, but that would take waaaay too much time, seeing as I've got six or seven of you to deal with today. Please do stop by if you were in class on Wednesday. Otherwise I'll never get emo!Ten off my hands.))

The study hall is empty except for the baskets of puppies and kittens. A note has been scribbled on the blackboard -- Pull any shit in my classroom today, and the puppies and kittens go away. Got it?

"Okay, guys, I know I said that last lesson was going to be the last on marriage, but, well, I changed my mind," Daniel grins. "This class I want you to talk about how you see marriage, and how that compares to what we've been learning. Does marriage hold some sort of social stigma for you? How old do you think people should be when they marry? What would you do if your significant other proposed to you tomorrow?

Homework, just a write up of our discussion will do.

Have a good and safe weekend."

*The gym has had a bit of a redecoration. There is plastic sheeting across the entire floor, and in the middle is a very large inflatable pool*

*It is filled with mud*

Mud Wrestling today, kids!

I wanna see Callisto and Ivanova, in there, right now!

*sets down clipboard for everyone to sign the roll*

"Okay, guys. Going away from the format a bit here...

What do you actually know about Ancient Egypt? Either through what I've taught you so far, or what you knew before. Have some of your perceptions changed at all? Is there anything you want to learn about specifically?

Discuss this amongst yourselves, and write up your findings for homework."

Parker is examining her newest purchases, and nobody gets to touch them. She'll slap your hand if you try.

Targets are set up-- with a specialty on gremlin silhouettes.

Have at it.

ETA: Best score on the Gremlin silhouettes gets a case of free ammo and a bottle of your choice of booze from Parker.

Nap time!

A few of you still haven't turned in last week's project. Sassing out recent events, I'm extending the deadline. Turn in the project when you can.

Now, on to this week's batch of style! As you all must be painfully aware of, there is currently a curfew being enforced. So, you're stuck in pajamas on a Friday night, while I'm zipping around the galaxy hanving a really wild time. Doesn't mean you can't have a fashionable time of it!

Our next project is pajama design. Nighties, footies, death shrouds, whatever you want. Be creative, but design with comfort in mind.

As this is a reasonably simple project, I’d also dig a small essay (100 words or under), about either:

1. The style factor of your outfit. Why it's cool, how it would improve the wearer's social standing at, say, a slumber party.

or

2. The role of fashion in general. Why it is beneficial for someone to know how to look good, regardless of the outfit worn.

There's a sign on the door:

Class is cancelled today, there will be an open lab later on next week if you need anything. My condolences to those friends of Kitty. Be safe!

"In lieu of class today, I'm allowing anyone who wants to speak to counselors to go right ahead, or to take this period as study time," Padme said, before sitting down. "I'll be available for any questions or help you might need, as best I can give it."

OOC: Honestly, I've had a truly rough day. If you know my mun journal, you'll know why. *grumbles* So my mind os elsewhere.

Camulus looks tired. "It's Friday. We've all had a long week. So I'll keep it short. Cu Chulainn, Fergus mac Roich, Cormac mac Conchobar, Conall Cernach. 100 words each, who they are, why they're important."

Charlie is present. He's wrapped in a blanket and looks like he's trying to drown himself in the steaming cup of tea he's holding, but he's there.

"Today's announcements:

...I'm still sick. Jack O'Neill is also sick according to Janet Fraiser, and is off the hook detentionwise.

Kitty Pryde... Well, I'm sure you've all heard and it's a good thing I already feel miserable otherwise I'd totally angst about that.

Now, for today's classes..."

Hydrology is the study of the movement, distribution, and quality of water throughout the Earth, both the hydrologic cycle and water resources.

The hydrologic cycle is the circulation of water within the earth's hydrosphere, involving changes in the physical state of water between liquid, solid, and gas phases. The hydrologic cycle refers to the continuous exchange of water between atmosphere, land, surface and subsurface waters, and organisms. In addition to storage in various compartments (the ocean is one such "compartment"), the multiple cycles that make up the earth's water cycle involve five main physical actions: evaporation, precipitation, infiltration, runoff, and subsurface flow.
