"Right," Yennefer said to her class. "Let's talk about technology. You from the future, you're just going to have to figure out how to reverse this on your own time. If you're coming from a time that's just about got the hang of the water mill, or is more reliant on magic that not everyone has, the technology of this world is a boon. Hot water from a tap, flush toilets, hair dryers, don't even get me started on the phones, that will be a whole separate lesson...and then you go home and you have none of that. How can you cope? Yes, you can learn how your favorite bits are done and become a genius inventor, and yes, that may have knock-on effects you couldn't have anticipated for the rest of your society, but who cares when you're nice and comfortable and not dealing with a chamber pot? But also, that sounds like a lot of effort." And if you were a woman a man would probably steal the credit. "So, what are you to do? Merely suffer? I should hope not. But I am interested to hear what ideas you may have, and what your favorite piece of technology available in your more advanced time is. Discuss."

“Today,” Sam said sternly, “i have found an educational film for us to watch about the dangers of being Weird.”

That was not at all what this movie was about.

“It is a biographical story of one man's descent into weirdness!”

That was closer, at least.

“Pay attention! There may be a test!”

There would not be a test and Sam really should have been paying more attention himself.

Another week another spread of pastries on one table and books on another. Honestly, Aphra didn't know why she hadn't thought of this before, it was the easiest class ever.

There was also a rickety looking projector that they'd dragged out of somewhere.

"Today we're looking at what can happen if a book gets popular enough," Aphra told the class. "An adaptation."

"The film of the book, as they say," Isabela added, in case none of them were familiar with the concept.

"And for demonstration purposes, we've got a " Aphra, that was a sequel of a remake, not an adaptation.
