"Well, we had an entire class prepared with monster trucks, but then my sons used them over the weekend and now they're modified so only Force-sensitive people can drive them without killing themselves, so we'll table that until I have time to fix them back," Anakin said with a slight grimace. "I apologize."

Ahsoka wasn't saying anything, but she did look far too amused. "So instead we'll be looking at the importance of communication and how it can bring together people by letting them focus on their similarities rather than their differences." Like say one of them being a teenage girl and the other a giant robot.

One of these days Anakin would check the movie Ahsoka picked for class, but it wasn't today! "That sounds like a very diplomatic thing to learn."

If she picked something suitable, then the island would intervene anyway, so this was just skipping the middleman. "I thought so," Ahsoka said as she started the movie.

"Well, this will be something," Anakin said dryly.

Students had been handwavily told to report to Ghanima's classroom for once, and when they arrived, they would find it filled to the brim with fall-themed craft supplies.

"Apologies for the missed classes," Ghanima said briskly, once everyone had arrived. "I was recalled to Arrakis for an issue of great political importance that required both the Empress of the Imperium and her Heir to be in attendance."

An heir who...was not here. Ghanima was teaching solo today, no Trebor running around to help, and her crispness suggested she was Not Pleased about that fact.

Politics.

"Today, we we will be dabbling into arts and crafts," she continued. "Many American children have the ritual of making 'turkey art' this time of year, tracing their hands to draw or paint a turkey, representing the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday."

"However, given you all have a bit more manual dexterity than that, we will be making fall wreaths or door basket."

"In the northern hemisphere of this planet, now is the time for various fall harvest festivals. This period tends to range from late-August to the end of November, and can encompass a wide-range of activities. Lammas, Sukkot, Mehrgan, Onam, American Thanksgiving, the Chinese Mid-Autumn Festival -- or Moon Festival -- Dożynki, and the Niiname-no-Matsuri are all examples of this tradition."

“Today is a holiday, here,” Stark said. “Not a festive one but one to remember. For veterans. People who have been in the military. Maybe ones who have been in wars. Seen fighting. Seen dying. Seen things that do not leave you, even with time.”

“I know something of that. Not the military. I was never a soldier. But I was in battles and wars and I’ve seen so much suffering at those times and after those times were over, or at least stopped.”

Stark paused for a moment to look around. “Sometimes…sometimes soldiers, or anyone who was harmed by a war, and everyone does get harmed when there is a war affecting them…sometimes it’s a specific sort of trauma that affects those people. From the death or the pain or the fear or all of it. Sometimes from doing things they wish they had never had to do. Things that are regretted. Things that are repressed.”

“I don’t know if any of you have been soldiers or have seen war. I don’t need to know. You don’t need to say but you can if you like. You never have to talk but you can always choose to, with me, here. So…we could talk without mentioning anything of yourselves, if you like. Just hypotheticals. Or whatever you like. But we should talk of ways trauma from war might be different from other traumas. Or the same. Let’s just…discuss that.”

Or not. He was not going to force anyone to speak. That would be absurd.

“Or I can talk about things I’ve seen. Soldiers I’ve known. Others.”

Hello everyone! It's time again for applications!

To apply, read the following information, click the link to the application form, fill it out for the character you want to play, and send it off!

The basics you need to know )

* At this point, the school is now officially a collegiate setting. All student applications must be for college students or grad students.

* Teachers are required to teach at least one class/workshop per week, and be accessible to students when needed. This also applies for characters applying to teach an adult class at the Community Center, rather than one at the school.

* If you would like to apply for a new character to teach an adult workshop, fill out the Character Application exactly as if you were applying for a teacher, but mark it "Townie" instead. Note in the Course Description that it would be an adult workshop, not a student workshop. Because of the need to keep track of the adult workshops being offered and start them at the same time, these applications will be processed on the same schedule as student/teacher applications.

* Current townies or teachers can also apply to teach an adult workshop. If you would like to teach an adult workshop with a current character, you can fill out a limited application by following the instructions here.

* See this post for more about character activity.

* All accepted characters go on probation for the first month. After that time, if there's anyone who's disappeared or is causing problems, we'll talk to them about it and possibly discuss removal from the game. It's very difficult to get to the removal stage.

* Improvisation. Fandom High is a balance between planning and improvisation. Some people plan plots, but a lot of the day-to-day stuff is purely improvisation where you throw a bunch of characters together and see what happens.

You only need to fill out the parts that are relevant to the type of character you are applying for (ie: if you're a student applicant, don't fill in the stuff marked 'Townies Only').

If you don't get a confirmation email from us within 24 hours, please email us!

Applications close December 7th at 11:59pm Eastern. The next application session for students and teachers after this will be for the Summer session in April!
