This week, Cara and Jane had taken a page out of certain of their colleges books, and class was taking place at a very fancy brunch place. Because they certainly weren't planning on leaving any of their class budget on the table.

And Jane was fore sure just drinking juice. Out of a champagne flute, yes. "Welcome to week two," she said. "Where we continue to demonstrate how best to just relax."

For her part was Cara also drinking juice, or mimosas, the world would never know. "We will actually be doing introductions this week, " she said, taking a sip of her drink. "And getting an idea of activities you might find relaxing, because as it turns out, it tends to be very subjective."

"Oh, how about everyone suggests what they find relaxing for future classes," Jane said. Look at that, a learning opportunity for everyone!

"And remember not to judge," Cara, an extremely judgemental person, said. "After all, what you find relaxing another person might find deathly dull. Or worse."

The class was meeting in the danger shop classroom again today, only instead of dinosaurs out the window, the students would find a sort of cyberpunk neon landscape spread out around them, replacing the old medieval aesthetic of the island to no purpose at all except that it was amusing to Summer. Also amusing to Summer was the fact that she'd leaned into the whole teacher vibe with her outfit, pencil skirt and button up and cardigan, fake glasses perched on her nose and her usual ponytail coiled up into a neat bun. Just like the landscape outside the window, she had no intention of addressing this and, in fact, just started in on the lesson.

And here there be AUs.... )

"Overall," she concluded, "when you really start to dig into these and inspect them closely, it can all feel really meta on a level that you're not really sure you should be examining. It can almost make you start to question what reality even is...is there One True Reality? How do you know which is which? Are you the imposter, the slightly-altered version of some other Prime Reality? Maybe none of it's real, it's all just some sort of simulation or, I don't know, a game of some sort and we're not actually autonomous creatures but rather some playthings of higher powers acting in ways beyond our control.

"And that's usually the point where, if you don't just stop and take a breath and not think about it too much, you'll just end up in a spiral, so that's where I'm going to stop and open it up to you guys, and I swear, we're not going to be doing too many of the esoteric psychological theory lessons, I'm usually a much more experiential and hands-on teacher, but I do believe these are important things to look at if we're doing a class about the multiverse. What are your thoughts?"

As it would continue to be, barring unforeseen circumstances, cupcake class was meeting in the Home Ec room today. The pantry was stocked with the usual items and there were also birthday candles, a variety of themed sprinkles, and some pre-made funfetti-esque cupcakes for snacking on should anyone want one.

“I had a birthday this week,” Stark said. “My third.” He would not be explaining that statement further at this time.

“So I’ve been thinking of birthdays and for this week’s class we’ll be making birthday cupcakes. WHatever that might mean to you. Make a cupcake like you might give to someone you care about on their birthday, or someone you hate. Make a cupcake you might want for your own birthday or one you’ve had for a birthday before. You decide, of course.”

He looked around the room at everyone for a moment and then nodded.

“And I’ve brought some cupcakes for you to eat, if you like. Wouldn’t want anyone getting hungry while they bake.”

Or hungry because they were baked. Stewart.

“When we're finished, we'll vote on which cupcake we like best, and the winner will get…something next week.”
