"As normal as it gets around here anyway," Cara, who was gamely pretending she wasn't noticing the heat in her outfit, said. "Unfortunately the weather remains the same."

"We have a several different recipes, and things you can put in them." Edible things! Like fruit and candy and glitter. "And some you can eat while you're waiting for yours to freeze."

This class was intended to be the light, fun version of camping, not one of Gladio's more intense wilderness survival classes, so when he heard that the heat was going to be pretty extreme today, he didn't want to put anyone through camping with that, so they were back in the danger shop this week, where they could enjoy a nice warm day instead of the sweltering heat outside, and everyone had definitely been informed ahead of time to bring swimwear.

Which, of course, meant Gladio was already in his.

And since it wasn't quite the same hiking through the DS as it was the preserve, they were starting out in the woods surrounding a pretty nice pond set up as a swimming hole, essentially.

"If you're out camping and it's hot and there's a good body of water around, you really can't go wrong with enjoying a little swimming. Now, you gotta be careful sometimes, because some ponds or lakes are going to be full of stuff you don't want to deal with when you're out in the wilderness, and so we're going to go over not only general swimming safety tips, but also ways to tell if a lake is safe to swim in, and other important things to keep in mind.

"Now, if you don't know how to swim," he continued, "obviously, I don't want you jumping in, but if you're open to it, I'd love to teach you a few fundamentals. Same goes if you're not confident in your swimming ability. And those of you who can swim, then, I trust you all to be responsible and keep an eye on each other while we do those lessons. Unlike other teachers today, Rosa had absolutely no issue with making her students suffer in the sweltering heat.

However, Rosa did have issues with herself suffering in the sweltering heat, so, lucky students, class was going to be held indoors today. Rosa didn't want to deal with the heat, nor did she want to deal with having to drag anyone to the clinic when their downward facing dog turned into a heat-stroke passed out dog.

"Today," she said, "we're talking about the ajna chakra, or the third-eye blind chakra, which is said to be the perception chakra, and the gateway to the soul and to higher consciousness and all that other loopy awakening bullshit. Ajna basically means foremost, because this is the foremost center of your perception and all that stuff. So, naturally, it's said to be positioned at the center of your brain, allegedly about four inches behind the center of the eyebrows." She took a moment to point to her forehead, in case anyone needed help with that one. And while your two actual eyes see what's around you, third eye is supposed to reveal insight into the future. Inner vision, higher perception, moving on from worldly concerns, desires, or distractions, stuff like that.

"The symbol is a lotus with two petals, meant to represent the duality of your ego, like your likes and dislikes, and the color is indigo, meaning to represent insight, intuition, and spiritual awareness. It's associated with an element called Avyakata, which basically means that it can't be described because it does not exist in an actual form, but a lot of people have leaned into meaning its element it essentially light. So, when you're unfocused or depressed or anxious about things, especially the future, it means your third-eye chakra is unbalanced; when it's balanced, you have clarity, focus, and general ease and peace at things without strong desires or distractions.

"So let's get into our warm up and then we'll have a look at some poses to help open your third eye."

“It’s hot,” Stark said. Which everyone knew already but it bore repeating. “So even though last week we had gelato, and other things, this week we have more ice cream. All made by Ben & Jerry’s.”

“There was a show called Clash of the Cones where ice cream chefs competed to make a new flavor for Ben & Jerry’s. I have plenty of toppings to add to your ice cream and I have plain vanilla and plain chocolate if you want to mix things in to try and make a new flavor of your own. Or just to mix in because it will taste good. Nothing wrong with that. I encourage it. And, of course, we’ll watch an episode of the show.” But not the first one about Kevin Bacon. The second episode with Ludacris. Because Stark didn’t know who either of those people were, anyway.

“So, enjoy the episode and the ice cream. Perhaps come up with some flavor ideas of your own.”

There was a see-through Gale and a tressym waiting for the class this week. The illusionary double started to speak once the class had arrived with what sounded like a pre-recorded, "Good afternoon! I am here on behalf of Gale of Waterdeep who is otherwise indisposed with important research. Please remain in place as motion picture will now be played in his absence."

Gale, why are you like this?

Tara made a disgruntled noise, before pressing play on a movie that was just full of wild inaccuracies when it came to the arcane arts, but Gale was not here to judge it.

Improvisation in Action [Friday, 5th Period]

"The most important thing about improvising as a skill is that it will prepare your for any situation by helping you understand that there are some situations you just can't prepare for."
