Today there was a note taped to the classroom door, in case anyone had missed the email he'd sent telling them to meet at Theodoric's. (There was a hopefully helpful map on the note.)

When everybody was at Theodoric's, Jon waved them in. "Hopefully it's fairly obvious what we're doing today. But I'm told a spa day is relaxing and enjoyable, so that's today's lesson. And it's inside." He wasn't going to question how Navaan got to every class if she couldn't be in the sun, but he could at least make it safe once she was there.

"We can all get massages and spend time in the sauna or...or whatever else there is to do here." Look, he knew "spa", and after that, he had no clue.

"Have fun!"

Today, someone's valiant ability to press play was being called upon. Or their valiant ability to walk out. Whichever one, it wasn't like Navaan could throw stones here. For one thing, stone-throwing had been banned by the moose when she'd suggested it for another class. Rude. Anyway, there was a note on the door when the students arrived for class.

Hi! This is past-Navaan talking. I'm pretty sure present-Navaan is gonna be really hung over today so here's a movie to watch. It's about why you need more than one character in your book, or else it's going to be boring. Like this movie. But you have to watch it because I'm a teacher and I say so. I tried to find the one about the girl on the island with the dolphins because she wanders around topless, but you're stuck with this one instead.

Happy drinking! (That's to me.)

Welcome to your education, folks.

“Good morning,” Cutter said as he started class that morning, he was clutching his normal large coffee cup and he was definitely relieved that whatever last week had been with all the singing had seemed to have passed, it definitely made it easier for their check ins with Becker. “This week we’re going to be covering paleozoology,” he explained, “paleozoology deals with recovery and identification of multicellular animal remains from geological or archaeological extras and it through these fossils that we can recreate prehistoric environments and ancient ecosystems,”

“The best known macroscopic remains are dinosaurs and other known microfossils include trilobites, crustaceans, echinoderms, brachiopods, mollusks, bony fishes, sharks, vertebrate teeth and shells of various invertebrate groups and this is because hard organic parts such as bones, teeth and shell are able to resist decay more easily and are often preserved and found animal fossils. As such soft bodied animals are rarely fossilised, such as jellyfish, flatworms, nematodes and insects as they don’t have hard body parts,” he finished and then nodded over at Connor with a smile for him to continue the lecture.

Connor took a sip from his coffee and set it down as he continued the lecture, also very very much relieved to not be singing anymore. “Vertebrate paleozoology refers to the study of animals that had what is known as typical bone structures. This can also include skeletal and exoskeletal animals. However soft-bodied animals and those with limited hard bones, like sharks that had bodies mostly made of cartilage, are not as easily studied due to the lack of fossil preservation. Classes of vertebrates listed in chronological order from oldest to most recent include heterostracans, osteostracans, coelolepid agnathans, acanthodians, osteichthyan fishes, chondrichthyan fishes, amphibians, reptiles, mammals, and birds. All vertebrates are studied under standard evolutionary generalizations of behavior and life process”

“The reason we study fossils and why sciences like paleobiology and paleozoology are so important is that we are not only learning about the past but can learn more about the world today and even possibly what the world might look like in the future. Paleozoological data is used in research concerning conservation biology. Conservation biology refers to biological study used for conservation, control, and preservation of various species and ecosystems. In this context, the paleozoological data used is obtained from recently deceased decomposing matter rather than prehistoric matter. However, the process and the methods used to analyse that material are essentially the same.” Connor nodded as he looked at Cutter for him to wrap up the lecture when he was ready.

“For today’s activity, we’re going to be working on making your own fossils,” Cutter smiled, “in front of you, you will have the handwavily materials that will be needed to make the mold and as you work on the activity, I would also like you to answer the questions on your worksheet as you do, as always myself and Mr. Temple will be here to help you,”

"So, based on your suggestions last week, we're going to look at liberating cultural relics from a museum," Aphra started. "Fake relics from a fake museum." Mostly to reduce temptation. For your teachers.

"Which brings us to our next, subject planning, because you can't just grab the loot and run. Well, you can, but it's a lot harder to get away with it in this world." Isabela, that was how you were going to end up trapped in Kirkwall for years. Just saying.

Aphra brought up an impressive, but comparatively unassuming building on the display, as well as some very impressive looking jewellery and weapons. "There are our targets, so ideas on how we go about getting those out of there?"
