"Morning, everyone!" Amaya greeted the class with that little bit extra eagerness shining through today, that came with the prospect of not only getting to blather on about weapons to a captive audience for a certain amount of time, easily one of her favorite things ever, but also to blather on about one of her and Rosa's favorite weapons. Buckle in folks, this one was usually a long one.

"And welcome back! I hope you're feeling limber and ready to work those arms today, because we're moving onto a personal favorite of Detective Diaz over here, and, really, that's no surprise. Today, we're talking all about axes!"

What kind of woman doesn't have an axe? )

With that, Amaya concluded her ramble lecture and turned a faint grin to the students. "Are there any questions? If not, I'll turn it on over to Detective Diaz."

"We don't want this class to be only lectures," Steve said with a quick smile, "so today we'll let you try your hand at some of the techniques we talked about last week from the early Renaissance."

"Frescos," Tony said, moving to the side to reveal plaster walls they'd rigged up for the class to practice on. "Which were most notably a product of the Italian renaissance."

"We're certainly not expecting you to recreate the Sistine Chapel," Steve said with another smile, "but it's fun to try out the two different styles of fresco painting--one on dry plaster and the other--much more difficult--to paint on wet plaster."

"The dry plaster allows for a much more vibrant color, but is prone to fading over time," Tony added. "While the wet plaster and paint have a chemical reaction that keeps the painting from fading in that way, though the colors are a bit more muted."

Steve loved how geeked-out Tony got about the science of art.

"Start with something simple if you're trying the wet-on-wet," Steve said, nodding, "because once it dries, the only way to fix it is to chop it off, make new plaster, and start again."

This week Jo got to the library and instantly realised that it wasn’t going to be the nice quiet day that she had hoped it would be an was rather surprised to find that a whole section of shelves had just seemed to vanish. She supposed it had been a while since that had happened but it did mean that working on reshelving the books that she had to put away was going to be rather difficult, so after a while she decided to focus on doing some tidying up as best she could.
