When the students started filing into the forge that week foro this week's lesson, they'd find one of the worktables...well, not cleared out, but very specifically cluttered with a collection of different variations on what looked like they might be the same tool. So if they came in and imagined they'd be learning all about what that tool was and how it worked, well...congratulations! They knew how as class went!

"Morning, everyone," Amaya said, greeting them with the usual nod, and gesturing toward the table. "Today, we're going to be learning about guillotine. Not in the revolutionary sense, but rather in the blacksmithing sense, but I assure you, you'll find it just as satisfying, without all the mess! What does that mean, you may ask? Well, let me show you."

Thus, Amaya started in on her lecture about the blacksmith's guillotine, diving with loving admiration for the simplicity of the design and its effectiveness in manipulating your hot metal in interesting ways. Dips! Divots! Notches and nooks! Create interesting lines around a rod or blade by hammering and turning at the same time! And of course there's be demonstrations, as he voice lifted above the hammering of the guillotine and the bits biting into the steel to shape it.

"And so," she concluded, "that's what we'll be working with today, familiarizing yourself with the guillotine, how various bits will make different kind of dents and divots in the metal, and how varying your swinging strength can also be effectively used to different effect. For example, hammering too hard with a pointed bit is a good way to snap right through your metal, but a few light taps an create a interesting groove to make your piece far more interesting.

"Just, please," she added, "let's make sure the only thing going between the bits of your guillotine is metal."

"We've got a great treat for everyone today!" Sidon announced, once the students had arrived at the shelter for their weekly explorations into amazing and magnificent animal care. "Furndado's very own frog band is still in town before they embark on a great journey and a marvelous tour of the Down Under to spread their talent even further world wide, which means....we will be enjoying their eclectic musical stylings while we all learn about our tiny little amphibious friends: frogs!

"Now," said Sidon, "as an amphibious creature myself, I do have a soft spot for these little guys, and while I understand that the talent possessed by our frog band is rarely seen in them off this island, they are still absolutely incredible beings! Amphibious, of course, means...."

And here Sidon continued to tell everyone all about frogs and how to take care of your pet frog (or a visiting frog band, perhaps, needing a place to stay for the night while on tour!), with plenty of the wide variety of colorful and diverse frogs in residence at the shelter to demonstrate and introduce.

"With that," Sidon concluded, "we now know our froggy friends much better, and, today, we're going to make them nice and comfortable by dressing up their tanks and creating unique habitats for them to enjoy! We've got a lot of the things you'll need right here in the shelter, so let's get to work and give our new friends some exciting new spaces!"

Today, the class would be taking a portal to scenic Naples, Italy! On the other side, they would find themselves outside of a restaurant. "Welcome to Napoli!" Raiden said enthusiastically. "More specifically, welcome to the Antica Pizzeria Port'Alba, the oldest pizzeria in the world! This pizzeria got its start in 1738 as a stand selling pizza, and opened as a permanent restaurant with like a building and everything in 1830. And it's still going strong today! It's always nice when a place you like makes it, and you don't go back looking forward to that tripe dish and find out it's been closed for forty years." Just him? "So please, enjoy the pizza, and enjoy Naples!"

They got to Odessen today to find it all in a blur of activity. Lana quickly herded them to the conference room. "Looks like we've got a bit of an incident today. Sorry about that." She was already checking her comm and being reassured that no, everything was fine, no it wasn't a drill, but she could stay with her class, it wasn't all hands on deck..."

She was halfway through demanding more of an explanation when Theron ducked into the room and clapped his hands. "All right, who wants an explanation of what it's like being human?"

Lana gave him a look.

[Sorry! Didn't mean to forget; today's been busy, so have a simple one.]
