died8yearsago: (considering revelation)
[personal profile] died8yearsago
Even if the weather had been horrible, with downpours of rain or maybe even lightning or threat of hurricane, Rosa was still going to be holding class on the beach that week. In fact, she was almost a little disappointed that the weather wasn't inclement, because she was really looking forward to potentially hearing certain annoyingly chatty students complain about being indoors then.

But alas. Still pretty hot, but still pretty good for some yoga on the beach.

"Today," she started, "we're moving on to the second chakra to focus on, the svadhishthana chakra, or the sacral chakra, which is said to be the energy source for prana ‘vyana, or the energy of circulation. It's tied in with the element of water and the color orange. Svadishthana basically means 'dwelling place of the Self,' so this chakra aligns with things like sexuality, desires," annoyed, pointed pause? Annoyed, pointed pause. No reason, "and creativity, and it's located in the lower abdomen below the navel. When it's open, it's said that you're more likely to feel creative and open with your wants and desires and personal relationships. When it's blocked, people tend to be overly sensitive or irritable, prone to depression or anger.

"But anyway," she said, "that's the idea behind it, so let's get to some asana that are said to help balance this sacral chakra to leave to you being more emotionally balanced as a person, but first, our warm up, and then we'll get into some poses to work on today."

"Welcome back, everyone," Ignis took the charge of the class this week, which meant he greeted everyone with a nod and a serious demeanor that seemed to provide a contrast to the lighter amusement of his cohorts flanking him on each side. "Last week, we all got the chance to get to know each other a little bit, and this week, we will be expanding on that concept. After all, familiarity with your teammates is what leads to trust, and trust can make all the difference in a challenging situation.

"So this week, we're going to be exploring a game called Common Ground, wherein the goal is to work with each other to try to find some sort of common ground that you all share. Now, obviously, being a resident of this island is right out, as is something like being a student in this class. Those we already know we have in common, and the more you challenge yourself to find something a bit more nuanced that encompasses everyone, the more satisfying that connection will be. And, perhaps, should we be successful in unlocking our commonality quickly, then we will simply continue to find other things we may share in common, as well."

"We're included in this, too, by the way," Prompto put in with a grin. "Leaders are also a part of the team, and with all three of us added to the mix, that makes it even more challenging!"

"So, for example," Ignis elaborated, "were it just the three of us, our common ground would be pretty easy. We're all from the same place, we've all been members of the same group, and, to jump off of topical things, we share a deceased friend in common. We've all been teachers here at this school, have all lived together at some point, and the list could go on and on, but very few of those things would be able to branch out to everyone else here. The challenge, then, is to find what we do all have in common, besides the most obvious of being in this class and living on this island."

"So, with that in mind," Gladio concluded, "let's find out what we've got. Anyone got any ideas to get us started?"

Well, the lava was still pink and glittery. And the room this time around was makeup themed for your entertainment. Because it sure as heck wasn't the entertainment of the teachers involved in this.

"We're still working with some technical difficulties," Jane said with a smudge of pink glitter on her forehead. "But we're getting there. I promise you."

On the bright side, your eyeliner would probably be on fleek for days after this. And if you didn't wear eyeliner, sorry, but now you did.

"However, we won't let minor details get in the way of class." Because if Cara had to suffer, so did everyone else.

"The goal is the same," Jane agreed. "First person to the end without falling in is the winner."

You're all gonna be so glittery.

That stuff was never coming out.

Your teachers were both teacher shaped today! That could only be a good sign, right? Or novel at the very least?

"Welcome back," Tony said. "Hopefully your weekend wasn't too stressful. But if they were... you can shoot at people with paint to feel better."

That was how it worked, right?

It was for them! They were Emotionally Healthy!

"We've added some obstacles, too, to really focus your minds," Steve said helpfully.

"We'll be joining you too." Because they needed it. "But we'll give you all a head start to be fair."

"Since we dug the holes," Steve said, nodding. Also, there were holes.

There was music in the library today. Jazzy and moody and very catchy. Belle found herself humming along even though she was unfamiliar with the songs.

There were also a number of books on mythology on display and at the desk and Belle found herself reading one particularly tragic tale of a young man trying to rescue the woman he loved from the underworld.
