"'These flies'," Shunsui quoted, with a faint smile over his teacup once everyone was settled, once again, underneath the tree in the park for poetry and a pot of tea, 'sure enjoy having an unexpected sick person.'"

He let that unorthodox introduction linger for a little bit, with a sip of his tea, before he continued.

"According to the Diary of Shiko, from November 28, 1694, those words were spoken by Matsuo Bashō on his deathbed, dry in his humor and poetic observations even as his corporeal form diminished, allegedly his final words, as he passed on to the next realm, leaving behind an undeniable mark on the art and literature of Japan. And, with that, we also come to end of our class exploring his works and influences, and, as such, I feel it's only appropriate we finish out our class with his last known poem, composed just four days before his death as described by Shiko:

tabi ni yande // yume wa kareno o // kakemeguru

Ill on a journey—
Through desolate fields my dreams
Aimlessly wander.
"
"

Another sip of tea, another thoughtful pause, and then a nod. "So, on this final meeting, let us discuss the final poem. What are your thoughts? Does it seem a fitting conclusion to the life of a poet who made his name on travel and observations? What of his final words? What do they make you think and how do they make you feel?

"Of course," he chuckled lightly here, "this is a topic I myself am intimately familiar with, so, naturally, I have my own opinions, but I should very much like to hear yours. Though if you'd rather just sit and enjoy your tea and think about the poetry that we've discussed in this class while watching ducks or gazing at the clouds...well...that's just more poetry all on its own, isn't it, and I think, at the very least, you might deign to share a verse or two about it ♥."

"Well, guys," Prompto said, grinning from where he was sitting on top of the desk at the front of the classroom, "after today, that's a wrap on this class. I want to take a moment to thank you both for taking it and letting me sort of play around with a new format, and I think it worked pretty well! I know I had a lot of fun seeing what you came up with each week, and I hope you guys had a lot of fun finding things for the prompts, too.

"For our final class," he said, with a nod, "we've just got a nice free-for-all, where you can share some of your favorite photos from the session or some of the ones you've taken in the last week, and I've got it set up so you can sort of go back and forth between pictures and we'll just have a look and talk about them as we share. How's that sound? We'll flip a coin to see who's up first this time, and then just go from there!"

It wouldn't be Beaker if there wasn't a big finish for the first session of class!

Cue the fireworks, inside, and a penguin band singing "Stars and Stripes Forever" and it was all very normal on a scale of Beaker until one of the fireworks sparked a penguin and then there was the running and the screaming and the explosions.

Which, frankly, was also very normal on a scale of Beaker.

Grab a fire extinguisher, gang, and get to work! We all learned the valuable scientific truth about not setting off fireworks inside.

Well, they had done it. Somehow, even with everything going on, they had made it to the end of the class. And Connor was just going to take a moment to appreciate that before turning his attention to the class.

“Well, we have made it to the final class. And I just want to say it’s been a good one and I think you all have done well with the assignments. That brings us to the last assignment for this class. Don't worry it will be a fun one,” Connor said with a glance at Cutter and a small wink. “For this class, we just want you to do a small project on your favorite dino or creature we have talked about in class. This can be a small report, a poster of fun facts, you could even make a diorama or something artsy for your chosen creature if you like. Just have fun and show us what you have learned about one of these amazing creatures.” Connor turned toward Cutter with a smile to see if there was anything he wanted to add.

Cutter couldn’t believe that they had made it to the last of the class with everything that had been going on either and he smiled over Connor, “we will be continuing our class next session if you would like to continue learning about different dinosaurs and ancient creatures, in the meantime myself and Mr. Temple will be here to answer any further questions you may have or if you’d like any help with your assignments,” he nodded at the students, “we’re looking forward to seeing what you come up with,”

Class had been told to meet at Cafe Fina, which was set up for a very late brunch.

"Congratulations, on reaching the end of the session," Isabela greeted them cheerfully. "We've covered some very important topics when it comes to loot, but there's one more still to go."

"Enjoying it," Aphra said sagely, sipping on a mimosa. "You could just hide it all away for some other adventure to find a hundred years after you die, but that's boring, not when you can spend it on all kinds of things."

"Like wine, women and song," Isabela suggested. "So today we want you to think about how you'd enjoy the fruits of your labour while enjoying ours."

And by fruits of their labour she meant they'd raided the class budget to pay for this, again.
