Photography 101; Wednesday, Second Period [01/04].

It was a little surreal, honestly, to be back in a classroom, even if Prompto had spent the last few months looking forward to getting back into this again. And it was a nice, small class, good for easing back into it, and he was sitting on top of the desk at the front of the classroom when they came in, greeting them with a smile and a lift of his hand in a wave.

"Hey, guys," he said. "Welcome to photography class! I'm Prompto, I'm your instructor, and be patient with me if it's a little rough getting started, it's been a really long time since I've done this! But I've been into photography ever since I was a little kid, and I've just recently started doing it professionally, too, and I help run the Photo Hut here in town with my..." You'll have to forgive him a moment, to pause and grin stupidly at the fact that this was going to be one of the few times he'd have to use this word, and over what word he would very soon be replacing it with, "...fiancée...so I've got a decent amount of experience on me. But the nice thing about photography is that you don't even really need to be experienced to get a few good shots, but knowing the techniques and styles and what you can do to make better shots is not only really helpful, but it can also be kind of fun, too!

"Since we're such a small class," he added, "I hope we can really veer the class into the things you guys are particularly interested in, and I know this week is the first week, and everybody does introductions this week, but I'd like to do something a little different. Today, I mostly want to just introduce you to the equipment. I've got some great cameras on loan from the store for you guys to use, as well as some other things that'll come in handy later on in the semester when we really start to get into it, and I just want to show you how to use them, all the different functions, and really have you get to know your camera.

"And then, with that knowledge, I want you guys to go out there and start snapping up pictures to put into a collage and next week, you'll introduce yourself by showing off what you put together. Take pictures of yourself, your friends, pets if you have them. Things that you're interested in, things you like to do, favorite foods, favorite books, favorite spots on the island....anything about yourself you'd like to share in photographic form, and we'll all share our collages next week before we start really diving into the basics.

"But first..." Here, he hopped off the desk, and picked up a few cases to start handing over to the students, "let's make sure you know how to take all those really great shots of your favorite things, and I'll show you how to use these bad boys and all the cool things they can do."

Did the classroom the students walked into look a little elementary school adjacent? Maybe. It was bright, colorful, and full of smocks.

Steve wasn't wearing one. He was in a white t-shirt and a pair of khaki pants. "Hello!" he said, beaming at them as they arrived. "We're going to have so much fun this semester."

Tony was wearing one, but mostly because it was the vibe and not out of real concern for his clothing. Because so much of his casual stuff had engine grease stains or burn marks from soldering. "With art! That everyone can do," he added. "Even me."

Tony looked adorable. Well. Steve thought so. "Art is an excellent form of stress relief," he said, "as long as you don't get stuck in your head worrying about the right way to do things. This class will not be about stressing over technique. This will be about enjoying being creative."

"As such, our intro to the class will start off with fingerpainting," Tony said. "You can make whatever you like. But to fit in with the first day theme... aim for what you think expresses you best."

"Tony and I will be making art, too," Steve said with a smile, "and then before class is over, we'll all talk about our paintings."

All About Tea, Wednesday

"Right. Um. So, I." Jon paused, drew himself up, and started again. "This was not my intended course," there was a lot of that going about, "but apparently the moose decided it was needed and I'm English. So we're going to be learning about tea this semester."

He lifted a drink holder from the Perk. "We'll start with tea. It should be warm and brewed properly," unlike anything he would have made, "so there's a cup for everybody, and there's milk and oatmilk and sugar and sweetener, whichever you prefer.

"Please take a cup, introduce yourself, tell us how you take your tea and doctor it accordingly, and then we can discuss what you already know about tea and what you'd like to learn."

Hopefully they weren't all just here for an easy course.
