Ignis had been dealing with high-profile political figures, powerful military leaders, the king of his own nation, and everyone in between since he was six years old, and yet there he was, in the front of a cooking classroom, feeling oddly intimidated about having to instruct a handful of a half-dozen students.

He wasn't quite sure if Nina being one of those students helped settle his sudden bout of low-key nerves, or if that only made it worse. But that didn't matter because there was a class to be had and he had planned and prepared for it extensively, and just because his being here was absolutely ridiculous, especially in light of the fact that he should be back home didn't mean he wasn't going to give it his all and try to do his very best to impart a love and knowledge and, most importantly, and appreciation for a well-cooked meal in them.

"Welcome," he greeted them, with a small tug at the sleeve of a button down shirt that was arguably much too nice to be exposed to the potential mess of cooking things, but no matter, "to Culinary Fundamentals. My name is Ignis Scientia, and I have been tasked to share with you all my extensive knowledge of the culinary arts in a way that will hopefully broaden your own skills and horizons so that you, too, may consider a meal not just mere sustitence or necessity, but a feast not only for your stomach, but also all of your senses and quite possibly...your soul.

"Now," before anyone could get too much of a chance to roll their eyes at that one, he moved on, "I understand that, at this school, there is a good chance that we are all coming from very different places, with a wide variety of food traditions and experiences, that might put us all at different spots in our culinary journeys. So before we get started with anything today, I'd like for us all to get to know each other a little better, so that I have a better understanding of what we'll all be working with. Perhaps you've never cooked a single thing in your life. Perhaps you consider yourself an expert and are merely hoping to hone your skills. I hope to make a place for all of you here, and to adjust my lessons accordingly. Perhaps," he offered a small smile, "you might even be able to teach me something new."

Doubtful. But still!

"And, if you'll all humor me, I'd also like you all to tell me a little bit about your own personal favorite food or dish, especially what it is like and what it is about it that you like. And once we've all had our turn, we'll move into our very first lesson, something very simple," hopefully, "yet useful that can provide an excellent base for wherever the class may take us thus far."

And a good gauge of just how doomed (or possibly not!) he may be.

"Let's get started, shall we?"

The danger shop was done up to look like a skate park. Because you had to lull your students into a false sense of security before you could spring traps on them, you know.

Though there was some music playing in the background.

Did Cara look like this was definitely not her idea? Yes. Yes she did. "Welcome to Advanced Phys Ed: Xtreme Edition," she said with a sigh. This is what happened when you were a chipmunk during class submissions.

Magnus, on the other hand, looked hyped as hell. Of course he did. "I'm one of your teachers, Magnus Burnsides!"

"I'm Cara, your other teacher, and by now you should have realised that this week is all about introductions." It was a tradition!

"And cool skateboarding," Magnus said with a nod of agreement. "So everyone will introduce themselves and try a sick trick."

While Sum-41 played in the background.

Eventually, this was a class that would need to meet in the Danger Shop - or the auditorium - but for today, students would have been directed to meet in an actual classroom, where they would find Annie standing in front of a whiteboard that proclaimed, WELCOME TO INTRO TO PERFORMING ARTS! (She had also drawn a bunch of five-point stars and asterisks around this greeting, because...well, just because she had access to the markers, honestly.)

“Good morning!” she said cheerfully when it seemed like everyone had arrived. “Welcome to Intro to Performing Arts. I’m Annie - if you want to call me, like, Ms. January or whatever because it makes you feel weird to call a teacher by her first name, that’s totally fine, but Annie is also super okay by me.” Both because she hadn’t done a thing to earn this teaching spot (so, like, she would shoot down any attempts at ‘professor,’ since it felt weird), but also because she honestly wasn’t that much older than these kids, either. “Whether you're a stage veteran or this is going to be your first time getting up in front of people - hey, welcome! My goal for this class is to sort of shoot across the bow and cover a bunch of different things, and familiarize you all with just the idea of being up in front of an audience or otherwise performing - we’ll be touching on the obvious things like singing and dancing, but we’ll do a couple weeks on things like public speaking, too, and just covering little tricks that I’ve picked up to stay comfortable with people watching you.”

Because, like, Annie was kind of nervous right now, but it would be hard to tell if you didn’t know her really well. Because she was a professional at this! And she would teach you all how to hide your nerves under a big smile, too!

“But for today, I figured I’d follow everyone else’s example and keep it easy,” she added with a bright smile. “So, let’s go around and introduce ourselves - how about your name, something you consider a talent, and it doesn’t have to be - “ she gestured vaguely to the classroom as a whole, “- a performance thing, just something you think you’re good at, and then...something you’re hoping to learn in this class.”

She paused, and added, "And just to get us in, like, the right mindset for all of this, I'd like you to stand up and try to project when it's your turn. Stand up straight, shoulders back, chin up, and try to speak from your diaphragm." She modeled what she meant, rolling her shoulders back and lifting her chin as she jabbed lightly at a spot pretty much directly between her own ribs. "It's an introductory course, so you're not going to get everything right the first time, and that's okay! But let's try to start out on the right foot, and try our best."

God, Annie.

She gestured vaguely to one student. "How about we start over here?"

Booker leaned against his desk and greeted his students with, "A hundred years ago, if you wanted to disappear, you moved across the country, changed your name, and boom, you're done. But even then, that was dicey. You had documentation you were expected to have. With the railroads and steam ships, the world was a lot smaller than it used to be. You could be found. So maybe you move further. Maybe you move to Australia. The point is, you could get away. Now? It would be a nightmare." Purely hypothetically. "Cameras everywhere, photo IDs with technology that makes them difficult to tamper or replicate. Most of you are probably carrying a tracking device in your pocket right now. But we're gonna talk about how to do it.

"Standard disclaimer, nothing you learn in this class is meant to be used for illegal purposes blah blah this is all just a big creative thinking exercise, right, guys? Anyway. Let's go around the room, and everybody introduce yourself and tell me what you would take with you if you had to go into hiding tomorrow."
