The arena that day was set up to be pretty open, a playing field of sorts marked with several basket-like stands at various intervals.

"Okay, so," Rosa began, "this is Powerball; it's extremely simple to play. You'd have to be a moron to not figure it out. You run around, get the balls in the basket. Each ball in a basket is a point, whoever has the most points at the end winds. We'll be dividing you into two teams. It's kind of like basketball, I guess, only there's more baskets and you're encouraged to hit and run into each other."

A pause.

"So...football.

"Whatever. Let's go."

The tavern seemed perfectly normal this time around, no weird traps or anything like that. Which could be considered suspicious if one was prone to thinking that way.

"Today we're gonna talk about diplomacy in the pursuit of getting your way," Magnus announced.

Were those the cries of an angry rogue archeologist in the distance? Possibly. She should have locked up those class ideas better to keep these bozos out.

"After all, sometimes it's more effective to imply potential violence than to actually commit it." No prizes for guessing where Cara fell on the persuade/intimidate spectrum.

"Intimidation check," Magnus supplied helpfully. "Or you could rely on charisma. Which is way, way more difficult. For me. And her."

Cara could be charismatic when she wanted to...which was pretty much never. "So why waste the effort when it's easier to do what you're good at?" Because most people didn't have a +5 to scary, Cara.

"So, today you're gonna test out your skills on the bartender!" A gruff NPC with a heart of gold, no doubt.

Or electronic Tino, it really depended on who programmed them.

Once again the Home Ec room was set up for production of cupcakes. Stark was up front, as usual, with a rather large cardboard box on the counter in front of him instead of the usual covered bowl(s).

“Welcome back,” he said, “Last week’s citrus cupcake winner was Steve.” Apparently he’d figured out how to get to the fruit in that pomelo.

“No fruits this week,” Stark continued. “Something different. Peanut butter!” He opened the box and pulled out a jar. “I have crunchy and smooth and…” He frowned as he pulled out a third jar. “Cashew butter?” Another jar came out. “Almond butter? I only ordered peanut butter. I thought.”

He shrugged and continued removing jars from the box. “Walnut butter. Hazelnut butter.” Which was not, unfortunately, the same as Nutella. “Coconut butter. Pistachio butter. Macadamia butter. Pecan butter. Acorn butter?” He’d never heard of some of these things but it was looking like just about any nut could be turned into a spread.

“Sunflower seed butter!” He held up the jar, muttering that that wasn’t even a nut. “Soy butter?” Also not a nut. “Tahini?” That wasn’t even close. “Who packed this box?”

“Well. I meant to have peanut butters,” Stark said with a shrug after lining up the jars in front of him. “I did not mean to have the others. But they are here, and we’re here, someone might as well use them. I don’t think there’s enough peanut butter to go around.”

“Bake some cupcakes, enjoy yourselves. Ovens are preheated, clean aprons are over there. Feel free to pair up.”
