The tavern seemed especially tavern-y today, perhaps it was all the cooing, or the smell of meat cooking.

"So, pigeons," Cara said.

"They're smart lil' guys," Magnus said, trying to pet one before it fluttered away from him. "But maybe a little tetchy about the petting thing."

Which saddened him greatly.

"Despite the reputation they have in this world, they're remarkably useful for sending messages." If you didn't have journey books or were squeamish about the whole blood as ink thing. "Tasty too."

"Is that what I smell?" Magnus asked. "Huh. You know what? I'll totally give it a try!"

Maybe traumatize the squirrels a little bit with it.

"Much better than squirrel." Cara was perfectly happy to lean into that. Leroy knew what he did.

"Okay, so let's all get some grub and get these pigeons to trust us!" WHILST EATING THEIR BRETHREN.

Like the pigeons wouldn't try to get stuck into the food if offered.

And there they were, for another exciting week of weapons, with the danger shop set up again a the large training area with a medieval bent to it, the wide space for movement and a collection of practice dummies, and the usual racks of weapons were gleaming with various swords just waiting to be used.

Stark was at the front of the Home Ec room once more this week. And once again in front of him was an assortment of baked goods and frostings.

“Yesterday,” he said, “we used some cupcakes as squirrel bait in the park. Not the best use of baked goods, I think. But a different one than just eating.”

“Cupcakes as squirrel bait were not entirely successful. Maybe if they had rum flavored frosting? We could experiment. Maybe we should?” Did he happen to have some rum to mix in, just in case? “There are other things we might want to lure in. Zombies won’t go for cupcakes so not those and those are best kept far away please don’t try to lure any zombies.” He paused. “But what else might we lure in with baked goods? What sort of cupcakes might work best?”

“As always, experiment a bit. Mix and match flavors. See what sort of delightful cupcake bait you can come up with."
