There was a board up in the usual tavern. A board covered in random newspaper articles and pictures and a ton of red string to connect everything together.

Because that seemed normal or something.

"We warned you about the clowns, you know!" Magnus said.

"Nobody ever listens to us about the clowns." Possibly because you sounded like crazy people.

Magnus glanced out of the corner of his eye and gave and exaggerated startle. "At least its not The Box. We're safe from that. But we gotta talk about how to hit things we can't see too good."

Like stealth clowns. "Like stealth clowns."

Which were now real.

"That sounds like a pretty great movie," Magnus said, totally breaking character.

"If you wanted to torment the watcher," Cara said, not doing that thing Magnus was.

"Okay, that's fair," he said, thinking it over. "Okay, so today we're fighting back! Independence Day style!"

"Since they vanish when you look at them, the best way to fight them is to make sure you can't see them."

"Maybe makeshift blindfolds?" Magnus suggested.

Cara pointed to a box on the bar. "Already made." This, this was why people didn't take you seriously about the clowns.

"Lets do this!"

Okay, yeah, at this point? Liam and Verity were more or less resigned not only to the fact that their class was yet again going to be in the Danger Shop, but that it was probably going to mess with their program yet again.

Still, they were going to try.

"Today's topic? Mini-golf," Liam announced. "And yes, we realize that technically speaking, mini-golf isn't actually a sport, and that we totally could have programmed a full-scale golf course in here, but," he shrugged and made a face. "Real golf is boring and golf courses are a blight on the face of the Earth, so we're not encouraging that."

Verity couldn't help but give him a fond smile at that. Because golf was the goddamned worst. "So we're playing mini-golf, which is different by actually being somewhat fun and also a much smaller course, as opposed to taking up valuable real estate which could be used for conservation - or literally anything beyond rich people's personal playgrounds."

Not that your teachers had opinions or anything.

"Like golf, the point of mini-golf is to use a putt to hit your ball into the hole in as few strokes as possible. Unlike golf, however, mini-golf offers obstacles to try to swing around, rather than just interrupting a long walk through grass."

"Like windmills," Liam offered. "Or creepy clown faces, or startlingly accurate scale replicas of famous landmarks… anyway, you get the point."

"So, grab a putt, choose the ball colors you want, and get yourself to the first hole," Verity said, starting the simulation. "Lowest score wins."

Let's see how long it would last before the Danger Shop did something completely different, eh?
mother_forker: (Um. No. I don't think so.)

Eleanor was not having a good week. First it was raining candy corn, then everywhere she walked she kept jumping and shrieking at every scary noise that happened.

And then there was blood syrup coffee. Gross.

And now every where she looked? Forking Clowns.

So the books were once again being ignored today as she stood on the main desk with a baseball bat.

"ALL RIGHT MOTHER FORKERS! YOU WANT TO PLAY? COME AT ME!"

It wasn't working very well.
