wrongkindofsith: (At least one of us has a clue)

The movie projector was out, because your teachers were still recovering from break.

"So sometimes in order to solve your problems, you have to travel to the people who need punching," Cara said. "And that's a lot of effort." Trust her on that.

"It's an adventure," Magnus emphasized. "But most of us aren't puppets, so it's not as difficult. Or more difficult? Do puppets have fatigue?"

"Whichever makes them creepier." Puppets were extremely creepy.

Sorry, Beaker.

"Do they count as marionettes? Because I speak marionette, you know." Magnus, thar was possibly the most nonsensical thing to add.

"I think those need strings." To strangle you with, probably.

"Well, poop." Magnus sighed, popping in the VHS, poor quality copy of the selected movie.

Enjoy your creepy puppets, kids!

Rosa was by the stereo again this week when class started; she didn't look frustrated enough to try smashing it on the floor like she had the other week, but she was clearly irritated with it enough to give it a few futile smacks. It would seem that, no matter what she tried, no matter what she wanted to play for music that day, the only thing the stereo wanted to play was some instrumental Icelandic folk music. Which...at least it wasn't just one part of an annoying song repeated over and over again, but really? Really? A little on-the-nose there, don't you think?

"Whatever," she finally said, a few minutes into when class was supposed to start anyway, giving it one last smack and a kick when she stood up, but then turning to the students and leaving it as a lost cause. "It works. Find a spot for warm-ups. I hope you guys remembered stuff, because it's review day. I know. I bet you're all real excited for it, too."

"Welcome back from break," Anakin said to the class, "and thank you for not being the person I had to fish out of the waterfall. We learned about a number of different things in Iceland, but the one that caught my attention for this class was the Icelandic version of the Loch Ness monster--a creature that hasn't really been seen. My question to you is: how would you have approached such a creature if it made itself known to you? How would you express friendly intentions? How would you tell others about the interaction?"

He waved his hand at the Danger Shop and the background changed to a slightly familiar huge lake. "There you go," he said. "Commune with the creature. I've set up several possibilities, making it large, small, friendly or very much not." He grinned a little evilly. "May the Force be with you."

The show put up wasn't exactly the usual fare for this class, but then again, what really was?

"Today we're watching a show about babies from the 90s. And not that little bitch Caillou. God, I hate him," Wade said, clenching his fist in front of his face.

"He's the worst. Our kid will never watch him," Vanessa said. "Wait. Did I say that out loud? Can we all forget I ever said that? And talk about Rugrats instead!"

"French Canadians are the worst." Wade wasn't helping at all.

"I think that's racist or something, babe," Vanessa said. "We should all strive to not be racist! Like the Rugrats!" Then she asked out of the side of her mouth, "Did the Rugrats teach about racism?"

"Maybe? I feel like I've never watched it sober," Wade replied.

"Let's just go with it," Vanessa said. "Enjoy Rugrats, kids! Don't be racist!"
