Aphra wasn't in class today, because Aphra was the worst.

There was however, a projector and a note on the board.

"The important thing to remember about lying, is don't get caught out like this idiot did."

Again. The actual worst.

"Today we're actually going to learn a dance," Verity announced. "You've learned the basics of rhythm, you've learned to move parts of your body in isolation, now time to learn actual steps. And today, we're learning one of the easiest dances to begin with, the Foxtrot."

Made up of four steps in its most basic form, Verity was confident that she could have everyone dancing to it by the end of the day. "For this class, you'll be splitting up into partners, taking turns leading and following. Usually that's broken down by gender lines, but there's no reason not to learn both parts. They're the same step, just performed backwards."

And often in heels, but Verity wasn't going to make them all try dancing in heels yet. First she'd need to see them successfully walk in heels.

"The Foxtrot has a rhythm of slow-slow-quick-quick," she explained. "Which means that the first two steps each take about a beat, and the last two make up a half beat each. If you're leading, you start with your left foot and take a step forward, and then do the same with your right foot. Then you step to the left and bring your feet together. Followers, you do this in reverse. Start right, take a step back, then another step back with your left, a step to the right, and end with feet together." She demonstrated this for them several times, both backwards and forwards. "Okay, so we're going to practice the steps for a few minutes, both leading and following, and then you're going to pair up and practice dancing together. One person lead, the other follow, and then when you feel pretty confident, swap."

"Welcome back, everyone," said Amaya, nodding at the students once it was time for class to begin. "Hope you're ready to get back to work, because we're going to continue getting to know our various equipment, and, today, we've got sort of a three-fer. There's going to be welding, sanding, and using the drill a little bit. This is even a project we didn't do last time around," a nod for Norman there, "but before we get started on that, we've got to go over safety requirements, because welding can be dangerous business if you're not careful."

So after a moment of handing out sheets with the information on it, going over it, and making sure each of the students were provided with the proper equipment, it was now time to go over their actual project this week: a large steel die.

"Since it's welding, it'll be a little hard to show you as I demonstrate, so I'll just sort of walk you through it first, and I have printed instructions, too, if you prefer, and then I'll be coming around as you work to see how it's going and answer any questions if you have them. So you'll start first by marking and measuring and cutting your steel sheet into six even squares..."

And she lead them through the cutting of the squares, sanding the edges, positioning them on beam to get that perfect angle and welding the corners first, then putting them together and welding the edges, then sanding those, and then taking a ruler to mark out the pips, then using the drill to dig the pips, sand it some more, brush it up with a little with some bluing, then sand it up just a little more.

"And there you have it," she concluded. 'Any questions before we begin? If not, let's go ahead and get your gear on and get started."

Class today had been advised to dress for warm weather and water, and there was a place to store their winter clothing before they caught their portal. Hannibal was waiting for them wearing a light green and blue plaid linen suit and a wide-brimmed hat.

"Good afternoon. It may be winter here," he said by way of greeting, "but on the world's other hemisphere, it is summer. And there are lovely sights to be seen there. Today we'll be viewing the Great Barrier Reef in the waters of Australia."

//For those not from around here,// that was almost literally everyone in the class, Jono, //th'Great Barrier Reef is the largest coral reef system in the world. It's large enough to be seen from space, and is the biggest structure on Earth made by living organisms. It's also host to a multitude of different forms of life, which we'll be viewing first-hand during our trip today.//

"We'll be visiting Reefworld, a permanently docked pontoon," Hannibal said. "There will be food there," because of course, "and massages, and seats for those of you who simply wish to enjoy the sun. You can also go into viewing chambers and look out windows at the sea life. Or, you can snorkel or SCUBA dive out onto the reef."

//Yet again, it's a reality that isn't going to look twice at anybody who doesn't fit the standard 'human' mold,// Jono noted, //because like hell I'm wearing more layers than I have to while we're in the middle of a bloody Australian summer.//

He might not die trying, but he'd be bonus miserable. No thank you.

"The local language is the same one you're used to, so there shouldn't be problems there." Unless it was due to the accent. Then you were on your own. "You can stay for the hour and return if you like, but we'll be there for several hours if you'd prefer to stay."

The danger shop was done up like a garage that, honestly, would look too out of place in a I can't remember the meta for the Fast and the Furious movies. Because Tony was involved in designing it.

"So, today we're going to try to make those flying cars," Tony said, looking way too hyped to be working on cars.

Steve's indulgent smile aimed at Tony was perhaps not the most strictly professional look ever. "This room has all the safeties engaged, plus a few robots who are just charged with fire safety, so don't be afraid of kicking up a few sparks," he said.

"And I includes a few... less than traditional power sources." Sci-fi bullshit more like. "Try to work together and don't be afraid to ask both of us for any help you might need."

"Start with Tony for the technical stuff," Steve said, "but I'm happy to lift things for you."
